I just received the watch a few days ago. LOVE IT! Once you get used to the button patterns to get to music, map, etc., it's pretty intuitive. Just wish it was a touch bigger!

Does Almost Everything Right

I imagine if you're like me then your biggest concern when considering this watch is the price. I admit, I thought this watch was going to be way more than I needed when I finally decided to take the plunge and drop the dough.
My initial impression after receiving the titanium version with orange band was very good. I loved the overall look and feel of the watch and especially how light it felt on my wrist. Normally I would wear a 42mm (I have a 7 1/4" wrist) but I went with the plus due to the extra battery life. I'm VERY glad I did as with mixed use including GPS tracking with GALILEO on hikes, running with music, and GPS tracked walks almost every day, I'm getting about 3-5 days on a single charge.
Now, part of the reason you get this great battery life is because this is NOT an Apple/Samsung super high-res display. But it's fine for what it does and actually looks best outdoors in regular sunlight.
More on the music; I think we can all agree that's one of the primary reasons why we are all considering this device. Coming from a Samsung Gear S2 this was a MUST HAVE feature for me. Loading music was fairly easy and for the most part so is listening. I've had a few buggy moments with the Bluetooth when connecting to my Jaybird X3's including having to actually restart the watch in order to get them to connect, even though they were previously paired. Also, the first song after establishing a new connection to the headphones would cut in and out before finally establishing a solid connection. This has only happened a couple times and may be related to headphone's I'm using as well and the connection was solid thereafter.
The only other complaint I have is the accuracy of the altimeter. Now, this is fine as long as you forget about auto-calibrating (which uses GPS) and manually set it using DEM (GPS showed difference of almost 100 ft). The annoying part is if you choose to auto-calibrate at the start of activity which would be nice so you don't have to remember to manually calibrate using DEM, then you have an unreliable altitude reading due to GPS inaccuracy. Seeing as how this is an $800+ activity watch this was a little disappointing.
Now, when all is said in done the good FAR outweighs the bad. Considering I have maps on my wrist, music with no phone, great battery life, swim workouts, courses for hikes, and the ability to track open water swims (I found the best tracking to be GPS + GALILEO), this is all well worth it to deal with minor Bluetooth/Altimeter Issues.
For the price I was expecting perfection, however I'm confident that Garmin will eventually fix the Altimeter/GPS issue with future updates. In the meantime, a little manual calibration before hikes is no big deal.

Map feature

Dear Garmin Team,
the watch design perfect and work perfect. However, i was disappointed by the maps feature, it is only showing three red lines nothing else is appearing and i am searching the net for solution and i can not find anything, and i do not know what to do.
this to be honest frustrating after paying all this money and the main new feature is not working well !
the sleeping activity did not work for one i had to restart and it worked.

I have only had the Fenix 5 Plus for a few weeks now, but so far I love it! Great battery life ... Better than other watches I was considering. Build quality is excellent. Very comfortable! I am so glad I bought it. Although it was very pricey ... But still glad I did!

Upgraded from Fenix 3hr just for the Music capabilities. Fantastic ! Love Garmin pay and the Navigation is a bonus. Set up was easy. Have paired all my sensors and am Loving the new Garmin!
