Lots of options for activities.

I have had my Fenix 5 plus for about a week and am just scratching the surface on what all it can do. This watch is amazing. I was a Fitbit Surge user for years and the only complaint I have is that the Fenix 5 doesn’t have a touch screen like my Surge had. It is taking some getting used to. Aside from that this watch is amazing.

I am only two days into the Fenix 5 Plus but I am loving it! Happy with the display, the accuracy of the activity and HR monitor. Intuitive screens. And after two days I still have 85% of my battery! I certainly hope I continue to love it!

My wife bought me the Garmin fenix 5 Plus Sapphire for my birthday, and I am thrilled with this watch. As a casual distance runner (16 marathons over 7 years) and outdoorsman (skiing, hiking and camping), my Apple Watch wasn't providing me the motivation, analytics, and features I've needed to push myself to improve, and limited topo/mapping capabilties meant fumbling with an app while hiking. Furthermore, its limited battery life was driving me nuts (doesn't make it all the way through a marathon or a long hike). The LCD screen was always lighting up at the wrong time, or not lighting up when I needed it unless I was holding my wrist just right. This Garmin doesn't have any of those issues.
A month after getting this watch, I'm still exploring the features. Having been a previous Apple Watch user, my favorite changes are its button-based navigation (more elegant than the touchy touch screen), the fact that I can see texts and notification but can't respond from the watch (really though, how dorky is that and disruptive to conversations), its LOOONG battery life (forgot my charger on trip to California and made it five full days on one charge including several hikes and runs!) and its vibrant always-on display (a little hard to read in low light, but the backlight button fixes that, like any other analog watch). I also love that with my swappable leather band, this watch looks STYLISH at the office (while getting some brownie points from fellow aspiring athletes) ;-)
A little on the pricey side, but hey, this is part of my mid-life crisis, so I'm okay with that.

Impossible to understand UI. No good user manual.

I have been using this for 1 month and I still cannot figure out how to navigate the User Interface, which severly limits the usefulness of the watch and it's many features. The user manual is woefully incomplete and unhelpful and the user forum have not been sufficient.
I would not trust my life with this watch in the wilderness.

This is a great watch. Decided to get the smaller Fenix 5s Plus versus the extremely large Fenix 5x Plus because I did not need the Pulse Ox Sensor so it didn't justify the difference in price. Watch is strong, durable but also comfortable. Garmin Connect app can be a bit finicky with some things but overall a very good experience. Music playback has been great. Golf and swimming on the watch were a big plus for me. Enjoying it very much.

I am so glad I did my research! Yes, it is expensive, but man I am having fun hitting the trails and roads without my phone. Plus, Garmin has been making a product for many years that has been rated top notch!
