You'll need the battery pack

My battery is dropping like a rock...less than two years old. Don't buy this phone unless you can afford to replace it every two years.

Decent phone but no headphone jack

It truly hurts my soul that there's no headphone jack, all the advances and upgrades mean very little when they sacrificed the jack.... they should also have left the giant battery from the first moto z play

Added features but limited protection

I had a motorola phone before that lasted me a long time but it was time for a new phone so I came back to motorola to find the next one. I was excited to buy this product for the moto mods that could be attached to it. They allow you to get a cheaper phone with less features and pick the features you want such as a better camera or speaker, wireless charging or larger battery, etc. The fingerprint scanner was a nice addition to have, however the location led to me accidentally unlocking it often. Unfortunately the bonus of the moto mods are offset by being unable to fit an any protective case. The only cases that work with any phone in the moto Z line that allow use of mods are the bumper cases which wont provide much protection. If there was a hope of cases being made to support mods I would have kept the device. However since the original Z and Z2 neither have such cases, it was apparent that none would be made so I had to return the device as that is a necessity for me. If you do not use cases or drop your phone much then I would recommend this phone for you. I will be waiting for the next motorola phone and hope it has some of the features I liked in the mods included.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Flag ship phone with entry level problems

Overall the Z3 Play is a nice phone thats capable of handling whatever you throw at it quickly and efficiently. The screen is incredibly crisp and clear, the added size is definitely a benefit while browsing the internet or watching a video. I haven't played with the camera a whole lot but the pictures I have taken look great, so far no complaints. The included battery pack works great, super simple to attach, charges quickly and gives you hours of extra use. Some reviews complain about the location of the fingerprint sensor, personally I prefer it on the side of the phone. I'm able to comfortably reach it with my thumb while holding my phone with one hand. I had the G5 before this phone and it wasn't easy to quickly and confidently swipe the sensor (located bottom center) with one hand unless the phone was positioned perfectly.
So why the 3 star rating? Good luck finding a screen protector that protects the entire screen. The edges of the screen are slightly beveled, I don't know if it's too expensive or simply not possible, but the tempered glass protectors are not able to follow the gradual curve. So all the tempered glass screen protectors are cut significantly smaller than the entire screen. This is a HUGE issue considering the fact if you're using this phone with a MOD then that means there will be no case on the phone, obviously exposing your phone to damage from an accidental drop. I would prefer as much protection as possible, with a 1/8" gap of unprotected screen around all four edges there's a lot of room to end up with a chip/cracked screen. I feel like this is a terrible design flaw on Motorola's part, they either should have known this would be an issue and not designed it with beveled edges or they should have made sure there was a manufacturer out there who would make a tempered glass screen protector that fits edge to edge.
My second issue is Motorola's decision to not allow the transfer of apps to the SD card. I didn't realize this before purchasing the phone and to be honest I most likely would not have purchased the phone if I had known. Combine that with the above screen protector issue and I 100% would not have purchased this phone. That's just my personal opinion though, if those two issues don't bother you than I'm sure you'll be very happy with the Z3 Play.

Well I've had a bunch of Motorola phones over the past 4 years and not had good luck with any of them. I just wrote detailed account and they declined to publish cause it was not detailed. Seems to hide the bad

Beautiful Phone

I received this phone on release for my birthday and I am very happy with it.
Pros:
The phone is almost stock Android
Snappy processor
Full day battery life with power pack
Decent Audio speaker
Amazing screen, one of the best I've seen
Great image quality

Overall I would recommend this phone to anyone who wants a flagship but can't afford a galaxy s9 or pixel XL. It has a premium feel but the fact that the phone is so thin, it almost feels like it it will break in your pocket.

Best Valued Phone on the Market

After having such a great experience with the first generation phone, I was pretty sure I was going to get another when it was time. I waited until the Pixel 3 was official and instantly came back to this phone for a comparison.
For half the price, you can get a phone that is nearly speced the same as the Pixel 3 and anything Samsung has available. Motorola has done pretty well at keeping the phones up to a mostly recent version of the Android Security Updates along with Android versions.
Existing Moto Mods still work with this phone, it was simply a no brainier to save some cash and still have a great phone.
I would recommend this to a friend!
