Fun Build!
on January 9, 2021
Posted by: MikeB
This is my first Technic build (well since the late 70's when they first came out anyways). It was great fun - I spent the week between C-mas and New Years building the Chiron. It was definitely more fun than I anticipated and the level of detailing is really nice. The engineering that went into the transmission, suspension, drivetrain, engine, etc is quite impressive.
The hood design is a little disappointing while the rear end is really nice!
Overall I found the instructions to be pretty good. Unfortunately I did make a mistake and had to do a partial tear-down which was a pain (see below). I believe in step 187, part 2, I reversed the small pin and this was impinging on the gears outside the motor. Somehow I missed this and had to go back from the end of Book 1 where the "marriage" process occurs.
Some thoughts:
- No missing pieces. I had the usual extra small pieces at the end too.
- The transmission uses rubber bands to hold the gear selector. Inevitably these will dry out and break. It would be nice if Lego could figure out how to use springs instead.
- If you need to tear down and re-build the model some of the pieces are brutally hard to remove. A great example would be the long gray pin pieces that slide into a blind hole (e.g. you cant push them out from the other end and the head of the pin is flush w/ the beam so you cant really grab onto it). See step 467 for example. I had to remove all the structure around the pin(s) and then twist all the parts until I could a grasp on the pin. Ideally Lego would add a slide on sleeve at the end of the pins so that there is some exposed length to grab onto. With this in mind moving forward I will probably never push blind pins in all the way until I'm 100% sure the build is correct!
All in all an amazing build that I would recommend to anyone.

I cannot recommend this car.

Where to start, there are so many issues. Build quality once you do manage to get it done does not justify the cost of the car. Unclear instructions and difficulty putting pieces together. Just take a pass on this one, save your money.

Amazing Gift For Car Lovers and Lego Lovers
on December 27, 2020

When I found out about this Lego set I knew I had to take on the challenge. When I first saw the box I knew I was going to have a blast building the set. I've built hundreds of Lego sets in my youth and had the opportunity to see how an actual Bugatti gets built. I can say that this set really came close to how the real car is developed. When I was putting this set together I felt like I was a Bugatti Technician putting together the famous million-dollar car myself. If you're looking to purchase this set you should because it's an amazing lego set and you will enjoy the process as well as the finished product.

Great Build but bad ending
on December 27, 2020

I just want to start out by saying I loved building this. 1 thing I hated was the stickers but they always suck putting on, so yeah. The only issue I had was the last piece to the entire build was missing. I ordered the piece already but that was just bad because I was so excited to finish it and now I have to wait a couple days for the very last piece. But I totally recommend this to anyone and everyone.

Best Lego Technic Set I Have Yet!
on November 29, 2020

The Lego Technic Bugatti Chiron is undeniably one of the coolest Lego technic sets there is. I absolutely love inserting the top speed key and to see the spoiler go up. Also, the little overnight bag is funny (although the real car probably wouldn't have any space for a bag). I noticed that each individual one sold has a different serial number. For some reason, the pistons in the engine don't move on mine, so I'm probably gonna watch a YouTube video on what to do if that happens. Surprisingly, it seems kind of fragile for a Lego technic build. Now I can't wait to build and play with the Lego technic LaFerrari that's coming out next year!

Outstanding Set
on October 21, 2020

Just completed the set and thought it was an outstanding build process. It took me about a month of nights and weekends to finish it. The level of detail in the build is amazing and I really enjoyed watching it all come together. This is by far the most challenging and rewarding set I've ever built. If you like complex, detail-oriented projects....this is the set for you!
My only criticism of the set is that the front half of the car including the doors, roof, and front end are all very delicate. There's not much holding it all together and handling or moving the car always results in pieces popping out of alignment or coming off. I thought more should have been done to improve the stability.

Hi there,

Oh no! We're sorry you’re having some difficulty keeping the set together. We always test and retest our toys to make sure that they’ll hold up to play when they’re built exactly as shown in the instructions. If your set ever seems like it's not very sturdy, the best thing to do is double-check your build. Sometimes there may be a piece just a little off from where it should be. You’ll also want to make sure that all the pieces are pressed tightly together.

If you'd like a hand troubleshooting the build, or if you find that any pieces aren't holding together as they should, feel free to give us a shout at LEGO.build/Service-BV.
