One of the best models i built
on September 29, 2018
Posted by: Bassebus
Ok, obviously the most stuff about this model is great.
Two drawbacks:
1) Stickers. With this pricepoint, all parts should be printed. It’s nearly inpossible to attach the stickers 100% aligned and for someone with my OCD it messes up the build.
2) The doors only have 1 attach-point and no ”lock” mechanism to keep them aligned when ”closed”. Really really bad.
With 1+2 fixed, it would be a 5-star rating.

Incredible from start to finish

If anyone from Lego is reading this, I just want to say that this is the best building experience I've had from a Lego set. The podcasts and unique coffee table style manuals elevated the building experience, and the packaging is nothing short of amazing. Finally, the finished Bugatti model is proof that the technic system has no limits and is phenomenal, from the gearbox and drivetrain, to the unique aesthetic of the technic parts. I am extremely excited for what future models lego releases, but in the meantime I will try to get the Sian next. Thank you!

Awesome build

One of the most satisfyingly challenging builds I've done. The whole experience, from the moment you open the box till you put the last piece in place, is immense. Enjoy.

Surprise in every bag
on July 7, 2018

This is so well designed and sculpted it looks undoubtedly like a Chiron. At this size and price that is important.
The technical details on the engine and transmission are, in one word, elegant. What was more enjoyable is that in each "bag" of the 13 there was one surprise, one smile-worthy ah-ha moment.
The only three issues I have with the entire experience are: 1) the printing on the back sides of the boxes makes a scrambled image of the Chiron's rear, which is an egregious packaging design detail that shouldn't have left the factory, a real missed opportunity for a wow factor. 2) The front end of the model feels very loose, very unsecured relative to the solidity of the rear. 3) 2nd gear clicks when running the model on a treadmill at low speed (<2mph), though all the rest do run smoothly, including reverse.
Overall, if this size model fits one's budget, it is a must-build.

It's awesome to hear you've enjoyed your Bugatti! It definitely shouldn't be clicking, though. If it's making noise while in motion, it's likely that something's a little off in the build, causing two pieces to clack together. I'd recommend double-checking that all the gears are in just the right spot, and that each one has enough room to smoothly turn.

Nice as a collector item, but a poor toy
on December 28, 2018

My son has been building Lego Technic since the age of 6. He's now almost 12, really good and enjoy building, modifying and playing with his Technic's.
The Bugatti is an amazing collector experience. The package is beautiful and he really enjoyed is building experience.
The problems come when you use this toy, as a toy. Parts are coming off easily, mechanism are not working properly, moving parts are really tight (suspension not coming up, trunk really hard to open, etc) and make the playing experience really deceiving.
You can feel is has been produced as collector piece and not as a "standard" Lego Technic with high standards and everything coming perfectly together...

Thanks for your review. I’m sorry to hear that you've had a frustrating experience with your LEGO® set.

From what you’ve described, it sounds a little rebuilding might be in order. You’ll want to make sure that each part is in the exact position shown in the instructions and that everything’s pressed together tightly (except the gears, which need some extra room to turn). You should have much better results!

Cool but....

This set had 9 missing pieces!a huge dissatisfaction. I wish you would try harder to get all the pieces in! Luckily I owned the pieces that were missing and added hem on, but still it’s not fair to make ppl use there own legos on a new set.
After finally finishing it looks really cool just like the real car I’d just say it could have been a little better

Looks way better in person (Does NOT Sag or Drag)
on February 16, 2019

This was my 2nd LEGO Technic build. The first being the Porsche GT3. I was a little skeptical at first from seeing the pictures. I didn't think it looked as good as the GT3. But..... I couldn't help myself. If you built the Porsche, you got to get the Bugatti.
The only real challenging parts I thought were the marriage process trying to keep everything lined up and securing the front and rear without parts exploding. The 2nd was the spoiler when I first started putting that together and try to keep it in the proper position.
You definately want to double check your work after each step. Eventually, an error will make itself known. I had about the same number of screw ups with this as I did the Porsche. Luckily, they weren't too major or time consuming to fix the mistakes.
This car looks way better in person. Really love the two-tone blue, the fact that the engine isn't entirely covered so you can see the pistons move, and the rising spoiler.
I saw a few reviews saying that the weight of the car is too heavy and causes the car to drag. It is noticeably heavier given the higher piece count. Mine is assembled and there is no sagging or dragging. Most likely a building error or loose connections not pushed in and properly secured.

Beautiful Car

A very challenging build. The interior detail is amazing. I would like to have instructions as to how the transmission should work once completed. Also other building tips would be useful.
