Excellent model of an awesome car.

This is an amazingly detailed model, faithfully recreating numerous iconic aspects of both Bugatti design in general, and the Chiron in particular, including the horseshoe grille, the sweeping exterior curves, and the custom pattern wheels. The build itself is rather long and involved, taking me almost twelve hours over the course of two days, though much of that time is spent assembling the rather robustly designed frame and undercarriage and the intricately modeled seven speed dual-clutch transmission and monstrous 8 liter W16 engine. However, despite how complex the build is, the instructions are well designed and mostly pretty easy to follow barring a few places where it's easy to miss small pieces being added to much larger assemblies.
The transmission in particular is extremely impressive, both the internal gearing and the shifting mechanism make inventive use of individual pieces to produce a remarkably complex and thoroughly robust system. It's honestly a bit of a shame in my opinion that there's no way to see most of it once the model is fully assembled.
The design is rather sturdy (more so than I would normally expect for a LEGO model, though this is the first Technic model I've built that's on this scale), though some of the exterior modeling is a bit less robust than I would personally have liked if I hadn't bought this as anything other than a display model. The detailing relies heavily on carefully placed stickers in some places, which I'm not hugely fond of but can understand given that custom printed parts would have significantly raised the price of the model.
Overall, this is a great model for the value, especially given the history of models like this becoming valuable collectibles once they're no longer being produced. I would highly recommend it for both fans of complex LEGO sets and fans of sports cars.

Best toy ever!

When you open the Lego Bugatti you say wow, with the custom wheels on the right side on the box this Bugatti Chiron is awesome with the w16 engine, and how the pistons move on the drive transmission mode. The gearbox is very detailed with all of the gears and how you can control them from the driver’s seat. The spoiler mechanism is very good and Lego did a very good job with using the flexible pipes to capture the Bugatti’s iconic back light as well as the horseshoe grill. The interior of this car is phenomenal with the speed-o-meters, the seats, the steering wheel and how it actually works. Though the doors are a little flimsy with this set. The front portion of this car is very impressive of how they used some Lego system pieces, the instructions are not that hard to follow in this set. Overall, I would give this set 5 stars. By the way, I am posting it for my son who is 9 years old and was able to build the entire car on his own. I don't think you have to be 16+ to build this. As long as you are good with reading drawings and have a long attention span then you can do it. The coolest thing it shows how the car functions and kids can easily understand the mechanism of a sports car.

Wow, that's incredible. He's done an amazing job, very impressive!
It sounds like he's very talented indeed, and perhaps on his way to become a master builder? ;)
Thank you for taking the time to write the review, we wish you and your son all the best and good luck with the next model!

A couple errors, but still absolutely incredible
on June 27, 2020

There were a couple problems with my in particular set. If it were not for these problems, this would be a full on five star review.
1. There was one piece missing. The piece was not important to the build however, just a detail piece and I was able to continue building without it.
2. I received faulty instructions. I'm assuming that LEGO prints it's instruction books in sections, especially because my first instruction book had one section repeated. I was missing steps 247-335, but the section with steps 335-416 was in there twice! Luckily, I was able to print out the missing section and (after about 30 min of printing) was able to finish the build.
There were a ton of pluses though. The set itself is incredible. A true work of art and engineering. The gearbox is insanely complicated, but works incredibly well. The unboxing experience is like nothing else. You immediately know that this set is a big deal and will be challenging and fun to build. After the build, I contacted LEGO to let them know about the errors with my set. They were extremely helpful and within a couple days, I had new (and this time complete) instructions, and the missing piece.
Overall, this is definitely my favorite LEGO set so far. I just wish I give it five stars.

Engineering marvel

Very complex build, but awesome engineering. I did feel that the front tires were not only difficult to get on, but seemed like I was going to break the axle pushing so hard, so just set them in the fenders and it looks fine. Oh, and the spoiler is awesome with the little thingy you build and control it with!

Incredible Build!

What can I say? This was by far one of the greatest LEGO builds I have ever completed. The level of detail in the set is just incredible, from the inner workings of the gearbox, engine, and paddle shifters, to the exterior bodywork. This build took me nearly 20 hours, but it was a cathartic experience. I highly recommend this set. I would just advise that you take your time with it, and enjoy the ride (pun intended). Looking forward to my next LEGO build!

Between the new-to-me build techniques and the podcasts, I am mind blown that this thing is actually taking shape by my hands. If I could, I'd order a second one, just to showcase some of the sub-builds.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

A Must Have

I purchased this one in store right before Lego listed this as "Retiring Soon". This build was quite the enjoyable experience right from the unboxing. The care Lego put into the delivery and the experience of the model was spectacular. There's a podcast to follow along with the build and extra content to be unlocked once you find your "VIN" plate in one of the final bags.
Shortly after the "marriage", I noticed the wheels weren't turning in the same direction while testing them out. Foolishly, I didn't try fixing the gears at that point while they were still accessible. So when I completed the car and tried pushing it to watch it roll, the car quickly bounced back to me. Thankfully, I found a reddit thread that discussed reversing the rear differential by pulling out the axles. Was able to fix that mistake with a pair a tweezers within 15 minutes, avoiding hours of reconstruction. It was a delight watching it roll to the sound of a real Bugatti's engine via the bonus content.
I gave this vehicle a 4-star based on a few pieces popping off while handling. There's a piece under either side of the spoiler that is only secured by a stud and has popped off if you lower the spoiler too far. I've also had the gray piece that holds the red strip come off of the car pretty easily. And finally, I would've loved to have the doors feel a little more secure when closed. Otherwise, I felt this model was well designed and a beauty to see develop throughout the build. I can't wait to start the next technic build (the Lambo).

It took a lot of hours but definitely worth it, and they stick to how Bugatti build and assemble their cars.
