Great buy

I picked this up today and although it only took 3-4 hours it was a fun build and is great value for money.
My only criticism would be that when the container is full off the rig the sheer weight is almost too much for the arms and plastic chains to handle. It takes a bit of force to turn the cog to get it back up (not ideal for motorising).
All in all a great set.

I always buy the legos to build them and then play with them and then i put them in my display(semi truck and trailer)
I only found 2 bad thing about it
1. Doors are to loose
2. Front wheels wont turn due to the weight of the truck
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

A Breath of Fresh Air

Over the years, I've felt Lego Technic slipping in quality, and it's large models aren't as intricate as back in 2005-2013. Each Technic now just feels either lazily done, or more about how it looks over it's functions. But this set is an exception (along with the Porsche). This reminds me of 8285, the Tow Truck back in 2006, only much better improved. The cab has no holes to expose the interior, and with what holes it has, it's covered as much as it could be with LEGO limitations, where most models nowadays are riddled with holes making them all look unfinished. And I really love the custom made engine block. First time I've ever seen that, and I would love to see V-6's and V-8's custom made, if possible of course. The trailor also reminds me of 8285's secondary model, but again, much better improved. For the most part. I still cannot get past the new, unnecessary new pieces, such as the red gears. And of course the out triggers could've been custom made like 42009, Mobile Crane MK II (which I personally think is the last, best makeshift model). You've done it before, and it was outstanding, and instead of continuing that, you made these unnecessary, bulky... eugh. And not as many functions as past models, but at least the functions aren't made like all these newer models where you need to switch to one gear to get the other ones working. That's SOOO lazy. But I digress.
All in all, this set IS a breath of fresh air, and it's really fun to build, and the end result is fantastic. Despite my gripes, I'm very certain Technic fans will love this one.

Subpar for Lego Standards

This is the eighth large set (sixth Technic) I've completed in recent years. In all of the previous sets, I've never had a problem with part quantity or color. On this build, though, I had problems with both. Not only were parts missing, some of the included parts were the incorrect color. Sure, the structure turned out the same, but the aesthetics are off having a grey piece where there should be a black one.
As others have said, lifting the container can be quite difficult due to the sheer forces involved. A cantilevered side lift is difficult with the best of materials- plastic just adds to that difficulty . The steering of the cab is also difficult at times due to the close quarters of the tires to the fenders and frame.
Overall, this set was average, at best. There are far better Technic sets available

Disappointing

I first learned of this set a long while before it was released and I was very excited. Lego has made so many excellent trucks in the past - look at the 1990s with the model team series - amazing sets, and in recent years, the Mercedes Arocs is a stunning example of design, detail and playablity.
I first saw the Mack and was instantly disappointed. The tractor unit is stylish but clumsy - it doesn't seem to fit scale-wise. The trailer is an after thought and the mechanism is ugly and unrealistic.
I cannot help but think that a lot of the recent sets have been rushed out in an attempt to sell and the result is not great looking sets. The recent addition of the red city crane is a relief but there isn't a lot else in the last 2 years I think does justice to the Lego brand (Bugatti excluded).
Apologies for the negativity - I am a HUGE fan but just want perfection that I know Lego is capable of.

I might have built this too quickly, now my fingers are in continuous pain. I can't even finish my Bugatti Chiron :(
