Got to bag 3rd section of the build and have a lot of missing piece. Have built a few technic and this has been the only one with missing parts.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Oh no! It’s very rare for a LEGO® set to be missing pieces. Usually you’ll find them stuck in the packaging, used in place of a similar piece, or hiding somewhere near your building area.
If you’ve checked all over and the parts haven't appeared, don’t worry! It’s super easy to request replacements. Just go to LEGO.build/BricksPieces-BV to get started.
This is an incredible set and Lego makes it very clear that the garbage truck instructions are available ONLINE, needless to say they were easy to find and read and this is a must-have in your technic collection.
I bought the Mack truck for my grandson for his birthday. He loves Legos and trucks. I followed the directions carefully. It looked nice when it was finished, but is extremely fragile. Many of the parts fall fall off when I simply moved it from the table to the floor for my grandson to play with. The bumpers, mirrors, fenders, and other details fell off when I picked it up. I though the purpose of Legos was to be played with. The truck trailer seems to be made much better than the cab. So far it has not fallen apart even with loading and unloading the container. It was neat to see the valves move in the engine when the truck moves, but when you open the hood, parts fall off. In summary, this truck is not meant to be played with.

Thanks for your review. I’m sorry to hear that your grandson's LEGO® set isn’t holding together as expected. From what you’ve described, it sounds a little rebuilding might be in order. He’ll want to make sure that each part is in the exact position shown in the instructions and that everything’s pressed together tightly (except the gears, which need some extra room to turn). He should have much better results!
If he needs a hand troubleshooting the build, you can get in touch with our friendly Customer Service team at LEGO.com/Service.
Cool set. Large sets are so much fun. However, this had major quality control issues. 4 missing pieces, and several pieces were in different bags as well as a few pieces actually different color. Looks like the robots checking the pieces on this one need a software update.

I'm sorry to hear you had such a frustrating experience - that definitely isn't normal.
Have you tried rebuilding the set at all? Not finding the parts you need in the right bag or having wrong colors can be a sign that some similar-looking parts were swapped earlier on in the build. Try taking the set apart and comparing the pieces you have to the parts list in the back of the instructions.
If you find that parts are missing, it's easy to request replacements. Just go to LEGO.com/Service and choose the "Bricks & Pieces" option. And if you need a hand troubleshooting the build, you'll also find our contact info at that link. We'd be happy to help!
I have not bought any new sets in several years and now that my son has gotten to the age where he can play and be creative with Legos I decided to get back into it. I wanted something that I could spend an hour on at night to decompress and clear my head before bed. The Mack Anthem set is challenging enough to keep you focused on the build, neat enough to teach you creative building techniques, and very satisfying to see it all come together and form a neat machine.
I played with Legos really since I was about 7 years old and I am 44 now. I bought this set just out of a hobby and getting back into Lego Technic sets for fun. I thought the set and pieces were very cool and unique! Plus the fact you can build the Garbage Loader Truck as well, which was very cool too! It is the joy to build and rebuild over and over again and even think up your own designs.
I received this kit For Christmas but have not built it yet. I have opened the box looked at the pieces and reviewed the building instructions. Looking forward to the build. Have read some reviews and noticed that some felt it should have a V-8 engine. Here in Canada and the USA almost all of our highway trucks are exclusively inline 6 cylinder motors. Lego has designed this model true to the power found under the hood in this North American machine. The only thing Lego could have done better, is for this model to have a longer trailer like the ones we have on the roads here in Canada and the USA. Overall good job Lego!
