As of me being a car enthusiast seeing this as a "Rally Car" I expected it to be AWD, but it wasn't. That's the only thing i feel left out.

Rally Car

This was one of the most pleasant building experiences of all the sets I have bought or built. I love the blue colors and even the stickers were not a annoyance . The price was fair for the amount of bricks and this thing is huge once built ! Don't just think about getting, this is worth it !

Awesome car

This is an awesome set!! It closely represents real rally cars and I like how if you roll it fast the pistons will make a rumble! Another thing I like is how many pieces that were originally in the Porsche are in this set. The front suspension includes two pieces from the Porsche and there are two gear shifters (also from the Porsche) are used for esthetics! The only down side is that it is not easy to motorize. And when I did get it motorized it was too heavy to go fast. Even with the extra large motor! Lego needs to make more remote control friendly sets.

A fun model with a great rack (Suspension)

I purchased this originally as I thought the car body could be motorized. It turns out thatI will be keeping the suspension intact as it is possibly the best part of this model. I put it together and was amazed at the detail put in to the suspension.
The car goes together with no major surprises, but it has some amazing functionality that I did not expect. The suspension and shock absorbers actually allow the car to lean and take bumps properly.
The car screams motorize me and I am going to do just that. I am going to try and put a simple L motor in it with a servo motor for steering. The IR and battery box should fit in if I remove the fan under the hood.
It looks good, the stickers really work on this one. The color scheme stands out, but it is missing a lot of advertisements which would be on a real rally or race car.
Both the hood and back are able to be opened up and show off the internal details, which was a nice touch.
The steering seems to be unnecessarily limited as a real rally car can turn its wheels a lot more than this one does.
All in all a fun build, and a tremendous design. Whoever you were, thank you, I have had a lot of fun on this model.

Ready for an upgrade?
on January 31, 2018

As a rally car should this be 4 wheel drive? Yes. As a LEGO car of this scale should it have a gearbox? Totally. Are there parts of the design (such as the seats) that feel only part finshed? Absolutely. Does any of this matter? No, definitely not! In the greatest tradition of LEGO this set just makes me want to to make all these modifications.
There are now (and have been) much more technically complex and what I would consider more complete sets, but with this set LEGO look like they have deliberately created a set that has a lot of room for modification. This is a good thing.
Don’t get me wrong - the set itself doesn’t need anything else doing if you don’t want to, but there is so much scope for upgrade if you want to.
I think LEGO have this set absolutely spot on - it is awesome as it is, and keeping it this “simple” LEGO have also made it much more accessible financially. Some of the other current sets are eye-wateringly expensive - full marks to LEGO for realising there is a place for sets like this. I look forward to seeing more sets made with a similar ethos.
