Great Printer!

I have only had my Brother -MFC-J5845DW printer for about 6 months. Usally the biggest expence in owning a printer is the ink. I love the 1 year guarantee ink include in the box. I also love the speed and print quality.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Overall a very good all-in-one for the money.

Overall, I am very glad we bought this printer. The positives include:
1. Whatever the ppm rating, this is one fast printer. No matter where we are in the house on the network, when we say print, the printer responds literally within a second. Once it starts printing, it is done in no time.
2. Although we haven't run a tremendous number of prints through it, I can already tell the ink consumption rate appears lower than our last printer, not a Brother. Every time we turned around the other was asking for ink.
3. Our last printer would go through some kind of exotic self calibration, cleaning, whatever cycle, and that could delay printing a single paragraph page literally one or two minutes. I have never seen this Brother hesitate.
4. The print quality has been great, and the few photos I have printed have been truly outstanding. Printing photos on Fine setting slows down the print, of course, but it is still perfectly acceptable.
5. The printer is simple to use and easy to switch between different paper types and sizes.
6. I love that this printer prints sideways. That brilliant engineering allows the printer depth to be significantly reduced, and it would seem to me to increase print speed.

The Negatives:
1. We have had occasion to print a fair number of pages at a time (25 or more pages). Whenever we do, the printer is so fast that the pages get out of order. Each time we have attempted this, we have to unstack all the pages and rearrange them. This is very annoying and time consuming, especially if you don't happen to have page numbers printing at the time. This is my only significant complaint about this printer.
2. I would like to see a few additional features in operation. On my work printer (only slightly more expensive than this one) you can scan one side of a stack of double-sided pages, manually reverse them and scan the other side. The printer will then combine the images in any number of ways to print as you would like. It is completely possible this printer will do this and I don't know it.
3. There are printers that you can upload a number of pictures into the software and the software will arrange all the pictures into the least amount of paper once you specify the size of your photo paper. It then proceeds to print all of them with your approval. Sounds very handy.

great features

Really like this printer because of the many things it can do. It prints fast and I love that I don't have to buy ink every month with it. It came with a years supply of ink and hope that it lasts the year. Can't wait to make personalized cards with it. I have only had it a month so am still learning about it. So far, I love it!

Many great features!

I use the product for my small business every day. I have using HP products for over 40 years and this is my first printer outside HP. Fast, Quiet, Excellent output, looks like ink replacement won't be needed for a long time.
I would recommend this to a friend!

After some playing and replaying, finally got everything working.
After which, the printer works fine.
The ink web site is something else.
Haven't been able to log in to setup, to order ink.

After some extra effort to get the machine coordinated with my wife's Mac in another part of the home, it has been getting the job done. If it keeps working as it has been, we will call it a winner.
