I was having trouble with the print heads my 6 month old MFC-J6945DW that I could not fix on my own. I engaged the Brother customer support twice. After the second call, the CS rep offered to send me a new unit. Very satisfied.

Fantastic Except For One Huge Flaw

Printing and scanning quality has been excellent. Ink consumption is very reasonable and economical. The trays are great. But there is something wrong with how it copies. Especially if you are trying to copy small items such as checks, the machine often decides on its own to rotate the image 90 degrees from how you want it, and there's nothing that you can do about it. We have contacted Brother's service department about it and after trying all sorts of re-sets, copy original placement experiments, etc., they told us that this is how it's supposed to function. We have to think that many other customers are just as inconvenienced by this "feature" as we are. We keep hoping for a software fix for this problem, it is a huge problem. There is nothing in the menu, and no way that you can position items on the screen, to avoid this awful phenomenon. This is our only complaint about an otherwise great machine, but for us it is a huge inconvenience.

Excellent All-in-One Printer

I needed an all-in-one networked office printer that can print high quality but also has Ledger & Legal size printing capability from a tray instead of manual feed. This printer fitted the bill and also has a lower running cost than most for ink cartridges. After 6 months of constant use the printer has performed perfectly and not a single jam or mis-feed.

The Drivers Suck

This machine is a beautiful best with everything I want and need in a printer except
DRIVERS!
If you buy this machine because it is economical to use be prepared to waste a lot of ink, paper and time trying, and mostly failing, to get it to do what you want it to do if you are not printing from Word. If you are printing from a web page or an email for instance, the printer will not differentiate between letter and landscape mode. I just tried to print an email, selected letter orientation and it printed the top of the letter in landscape orientation on one sheet and lost the rest of it. The console on the machine asked me if I wanted to continue printing or some such. I said yes and got nothing. I switched the orientation and tried again and it printed nothing at all.

Economical to run

I used a previous model with similar features that lasted seven years. This model has the same features with improvements. So far, it has met my expectations.
