Great value in a very capable printer

The MFC-J6945DW is an awesome small office printer, with large format capability I have long wanted but avoided the cost for.
In terms of print speed, the first page out beats every laser printer I have ever owned. While larger jobs don't beat my lasers, I have realized most of what I print on a day to day basis is only a page or two in length, so by and large this is a time saver. It's also many times fasted than any inkjet I have used. Text looks great, and even photos are good; especially for a printer that doesn't claim to be a photo printer in the first place.
The tabloid size print, scan and copy capability is fantastic. I am a facility planner, and can now print draft floor plans at scale without fussing with the plotter.
If I want to be picky. The large machine size was a bit hard to located in my "full" office; but that was expected with the tabloid capability. And really fine line widths are wider than a decent laser achieves; but I am more likely to be sending PDFs of those graphic files than mailing a paper copy. All and all this is the best value printer, let alone MFP, that I have ever owned.

We HATE this machine

We have already had our first one replaced after it died 4mo after purchase. That one never chose from the paper trays properly and the software never worked and ultimately it was exchanged because it kept jamming. The second one we received a month ago, and we still cant get scanning software to work, as it keeps freezing then cant find the printer OR scanner and then both the printer and scanner softwares have to be completely reinstalled. It too chooses paper from the MP tray instead of tray 1, 75% of the time. But at least it will pull from tray 2 when tray 1 runs out. The old one didnt do that. I'm ready for another HP at this point.

Unreliable paper feed and network connection

Jams every other print job. Can't stay connected to network. Brother software gives false reports of disconnection when it is still connected and printing. Brother software fails to reconnect it when it has disconnected itself.

Best printer I have ever owned!

I volunteer for a non-profit and must print checks, letters, and envelopes; not to mention scan a lot of items for archiving. I had an HP and I found myself changing paper all the time to fit the situation. The Brother printer has two paper bays and a manual feed, and it has made an enormous difference for me. I never have to change paper now; I just select the proper feed in the print dialog.
The scanning feature is incredible as well. With my HP, I had to do manual two-sided scanning. The Brother printer scans both sides with one pass. This is an incredible time saving feature.
I can’t say enough good things about the Brother printer.
Please note, it is a large printer; so, plan accordingly.

Excellent Improvements

This latest addition to my hone office is actually a replacement for a previous Brother large format A-I-O machine which was almost exactly five years old. The old one in itself had replaced an even earlier version of the large format A-I-O. So I am quite familiar with Brother A-I-Os. Each generation has included improvements and the 6945 is well nigh perfect--at least so far. The redesign of the multi-purpose feed makes it much more usable--and handy. Now you can place the unit fairly close to a wall and easily use the MPF, which previously was not the case. Kudos to the designers!

Would love to call it great, but...

This printer prints fast and can hold a good bit of toner, but never have I experienced a printer that leaves as many streaks as this one. I feel like I'm constantly having to clean the nozzles multiple times before I can actually print something worth anything.

Wonderful Printer/Copier

I am in love with my printer/copier. The WiFi capabilities and the ability to load 11 x 17 paper in a tray is a life saver for our business.
