Great machine but lukewarm milk-based drinks

Beautifully designed machine with lot of drink options, but even the hottest temperature settings result in lukewarm milk-based drinks. I wish it had a steam wand to manually heat and froth milk.

Saeco Xelsis
Response from philips.comBy Philips Consumer Care, May 14, 2020
Hi coffemate,
Thanks for taking the time to share some thoughts on the Saeco Xelsis. It's great to hear that you're enjoying the machine for the most part. But it's understandably a pity when you feel the milk-based drinks aren't hot enough. The milk doesn't get heated too much, as we would want to avoid the milk burning. But you can do a couple of things to heat things up. First and foremost we would like to ask to try preheating the cup you're making the milk-based drink in prior to making it. If that doesn't help, we would like to ask to reach out to us directly to discuss this further. You can find us on Facebook (@Philips) or Twitter (@PhilipsCare). We're available 24/7.
Kind regards,

My husband and I have been wanting to buy a coffee machine for a while, but with so many options on the market it took some research to figure out what was the best. After watching videos, reading reviews, and learning about the coffee machine world, we decided to go with the Xelsis. The coffee is absolutely amazing! The ease of heating up, cleaning, and storing your settings is amazing. We can't wait to get up in the morning to make our perfect cups of cappuccino!! We seriously look forward to taking our first sip every day it's absolutely delicious. The customization for each coffee drink is outstanding. Honestly, hands down one of the top purchases for our household! You can't go wrong and you surely won't be disappointed!

Even Better than Expected

What a great machine. I wanted to upgrade my Saeco Incanto Sirius and the Xelsis fit the bill. First, I have had my Incanto for over 15 years and it still works great, but I was looking for something with more options.
I looked at other brands and read their reviews, but I loved the look and features of the Xelsis and based on my past experience with a Saeco machine, I felt that the investment would be worth it and I haven’t been disappointed.
The Xelsis is even better than I expected. The customization (including temperature) and ability to save the different drinks under profiles is awesome. I am an espresso drinker and have customized how I like both a single and doppio. My wife likes cappuccino and lattes and my teenage kids are making all kinds of different drinks. Each of us has our own profile allowing quick access to our favorite ones. The profiles eliminate the need to adjust settings each time.
Another key improvement is how easy this machine is to clean and maintain. Seems like Philips/Saeco has thought of everything. The self-cleaning milk dispenser, the tray to catch excess grounds around the brewing mechanism all make this machine very simple to clean.
We make between 6 – 12 drinks a day and so far the Xelsis has performed flawlessly. Highly Recommend!

Easy to Setup! So far so good! Drinks are HOT!

Easy to setup. I LOVED the plastic saddle under the machine to help you lift it out of the box. I wish more companied did this!
I was concerned after seeing reviews about cold drinks. I made a large double cappuccino and it was about 150 degrees at the default settings. A double espresso was around 170. So things are plenty warm!
The water container is difficult to remove. I am hoping it just need some time to break in. Also, the PH Test Strip did not work. I know we have medium hardness and it was 4 green blocks after several mins. So I just set it to 2/4.

I was really skeptical, but I tried the Xelsis because I had spent way too much on trying to get the perfect cup of coffee. I love it! I wouldn't want to be without it. It lets me dial up or down the strength, more or less milk, and lots of other options. It's also lots of fun. I feel like a professional barista. When I find recipes that are perfect for me, I put them in my profile. The machine works flawlessly for me and every coffee drinker who sees it at my house, loves it. When you turn it on, the machine practically talks. You know what to do and when it's time to clean, the instructions on the screen tell you each step. It couldn't be easier. I've had this for a couple of years and if it ever breaks, I plan to get another one immediately. I don't want to be without it.

Best espresso machine ever!

I’ve been a Saeco espresso machine owner for 15 years. This is the 3rd machine that I’ve owned and this is the first time I’ve felt compelled to write a review. Philips has certainly hit a grand slam with the Xelsis! I could spend all day extolling the benefits of this machine. It definitely has the “it” factor. The design of the machine is absolutely beautiful and if you’re into technology there is no better choice. If you could make a wish list of features you’d want the Xelsis checks every box. My wife and I like totally different coffee drinks. I prefer short strong shots and she likes longer and slightly weaker shots. Problem solved! The profile settings allow you to name your drink and select strength and amount of each shot. For me this is a game changer. The grind settings allow you to further fine tune the strength of each shot. It’s impossible not to make your perfect espresso drink. I’m still learning the nuances of the milk delivery system but I’m having fun experimenting. The bean hopper is huge and the seal around it keeps the beans fresh. The machine is super easy to care for. It’s for these and many other reasons that I am a Phillips Saeco loyalist and will continue to be one. Kudos to the engineers that designed the Xelsis!

Wow-I am a coffee snob-this machine is awesome!

My family has had a Saeco Syntia for about 8-10 years. We loved the machine, but it definitely had its drawbacks. The milk flow was inconsistent if you used anything but skim milk (which could be rectified by soaking everything in food grade cleaners), the coffees were luke warm at best and the drink itself was good, but not representative of what you could get by going to a quality coffee shop and having a talented barista pour your drink. I read a whole bunch of reviews and I was a little skeptical because I heard that you had to remove the milk tubing from the machine to change the water (not true), that the drinks weren't hot enough (once again, not true) and I didn't understand why it would have a separate container that didn't somehow attach to the machine other than by a plastic tube. This latter fact is actually so much better, bc the interface through which milk travels is now so much simpler than the connection my old syntia had where the container attached into a nipple on the machine. This simpler connection makes for much less to have to keep clean. And the coffees are SPECTACULAR! I am a true coffee snob. I travel all over the country for work and my favorite thing to do is find all the special little coffee shops in each area that I travel to. If I had the coffee made at this machine at one of those shops, I would walk out saying it was a winner. Certainly, a qualified barista could probably do a little better, but I don't run across that many qualified baristas. We are huge huge fans of this machine. Its expensive, but it will pay for itself pretty quickly in my house.

Best espresso machine ever!

We got it about a month ago, and we love it so far. We use it every day, and no matter if we choose an espresso, cappuccino, macchiato or ristretto, it does a great job. The design is nice, and it's easy to clean. The only con is that I would like to increase the temperature for the drinks, and I could not find in the manual how to do that.
