Good machine but could be improved

The machine is space efficient and with the aqua filter reduces the need for descaling. After getting through less than half the interval between recommended descaling (machine program) lost ability to steam milk due to scale. Calgary water has a seasonal hardness variation so it could be that the water became harder than the initial test in December. The softest water is during spring runoff. I increased the water hardness setting from 3 to 4, so hopefully premature scaling can be avoided.
One design flaw is the steaming control, I prefer a manual knob located away from the steam wand. On this model the button directly above the steam wand must be used to stop steaming, in my view this is a safety hazard that could lead to scalding. It would be better if the steam button on the opposite side of the machine could toggle between start and stop of steam.
Another design improvement would be for the flip up bypass door to disable grinding when using pre-ground coffee. If one fails to set the brew strength to "pre ground" then the brew group receives two doses of coffee, one manual bypass dose and one grinder dose. This is hard on the tamping mechanism and then wastes perfectly good coffee grounds.

nice and sleek, makes a good espresso.
going from a Saeco (had for 10yrs) there are differences, the water need more replenishing as water tank is much smaller. there is also a piece under the grinder (need to remove to see) that needs to be cleaned with regularity as well, otherwise you get water leaking issues each time you make an espresso.
If i had to rate it against my prior machine I would take my old machine over this one hands down, but this is still a good machine 'they just don't make them like they used to'.

Doesn't grind dark roast Espresso Beans

The bean grinder malfunctions if I use dark roast Espresso Coffee. I don't like light roast coffee. I never would have bought it if I knew. Once it stops grinding I have to degrease the grinder which is a big mess.

SO happy with this machine

I have a disability and so the traditional machines are too difficult for me to use. This machine was a great alternative and I have had zero issues with it. I use it daily for making lattes using decaf whole beans (I haven't used it with grinds). It can be loud when its grinding or going through the water cycle, but it's not terrible. It makes a really nice cup of espresso and it heats up the steam pretty quickly and heats the milk faster than machines that my family has used in the past. I have cleaned and degreased it (very easy and straight forward), but using filtered water I have yet to need to replace the water filter, which I appreciate. Would totally buy this machine again!

I had an older version of this machine and I used it for ~ 5 years (still working fine), and I decided to do an upgrade and buy this new model. I am very happy with this new machine, and I see improvements from the previous version, hoping that the new model is as reliable as the old one. Thanks Saeco Philips!

Very happy with my espresso machine

Once you get the hang of it (took a week for me), the machine is easy to produce good quality shots in a short period of time. Milk frothing technique took a bit longer for me to perfect (more like a month) but I can make cappuccinos and flat whites to near perfection. It's all about the micro-bubbles, and the quality of the espresso beans -- Incanto takes care of the rest! Cleaning/maintenance every few weeks is a must, but I enjoy the process on a Sat morning while sipping a flat white.

Error code after error code

This espresso machine has been super frustrating. We’ve performed all the required maintenance, but keep getting error codes that the coffee grinder/coffee grounds are blocked! Nothing seems to be working. So much troubleshooting and very little coffee…

Grinder issues

I have the machine for about a year, and have been having issues with the grinder same as the other review. I tried cleaning now the machine won’t even make a coffee, so frustrating!
