Cannot print a cable wrap!

PLEASE BE AWARE THAT YOU CANNOT PRINT A CABLE WRAP WITH THIS MACHINE. If you use the phone app, there is no option for it. If you use the PC app, it will give you an error when you try to print. -EXCEPTION- If you have very small cables the 24mm wide tape is wide enough to wrap, but if you have larger cables like a standard 14/3 extension cord or RG-11 or anything 6awg or bigger, you are out of luck. You cannot print at a 90* orientation with horizontal text. It's ridiculous. The PT-E500 and PT-E550W can almost do a cable wrap (they have other dumb issues), but this printer cannot even do anything resembling a cable wrap.

Great idea, poor execution

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product for free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion/review of the product. I consider myself to be a moderately tech savvy person. I can figure out most new technology with no help, or am able to find the resources when I do need help. My first impression of this label maker is that it is large; I couldn`t see myself taking this with me to work or a friends house. The other impression I had was, why is the tape so big? After setting it up, and connecting it to the Bluetooth on my phone, which was simple but would be difficult for someone tech-challenged, I was required to download two apps in order to print a label. Again, this limits its mobility, and I often found myself frustrated that I needed to get my phone and the "cube" together in order to print. The app. The app was confusing, I printed several labels that were way too large or way too small. I also couldn`t figure out why it kept cutting a tiny strip off before every print. I felt as if I was wasting tons of tape every time I printed a single label. Once I finally figured out how to turn this feature off, I discovered it prints each label with a large gap at the front but not at the back, meaning I had to hand cut each tape to make it look uniform. There were so many features to the app, but I barely used them because I got confused and frustrated with the lack of intuitiveness. I was able to print several labels for the closet I was reorganizing, however I found the size of the tape to be too large and I had a hard time keeping each label uniform if I stepped away from the app and it reset the defaults. All in all, yes it prints labels, it`s basic function, but I would rather just have the label maker have a keyboard and simplified settings so that I can make sure my labels are thin, uniform, and I`m not wasting tape.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Good features...but...

Some of the convenience is removed because you have to search for your printer every time you want to print (assuming you are not printing continuously). It’s inconvenient to have to physically go to the printer, turn it on and then do a search on your cell phone or tablet to connect to the printer. Also, there is a waste of tape as it cuts off an inch of tape each time you print a label unless you choose to cut with scissors. Lastly, I’d like to permanently change the size of the font instead of doing it each time I start a new label session.

No Bluetooth with computer

I am not sure when they started making wireless printers, but at least a decade ago. Why is Brother not making the cube wireless for the computer? It's crazy. If your laptop does not have a USB port and you don't want to buy an adapter, don't buy this printer.

SLEEK LITTLE LABEL MAKER- FORMATTING GALORE!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product for free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion/review of the product. FIRST IMPRESSIONFirst impression right out of the box is its very professional, shiny, black sleek finish. What more could you want! It has a nice heft to it, so it seems like it`s a quality device. Not small enough to put in my pocket, but easy enough to slide in my briefcase or purse without taking up a lot of room. SO WHAT`S IN THE BOXIt came with a USB to connect to PC for printing and for charging. Since my PC has to be powered on to charge it, I opted to plug it an electrical outlet to charge. I had to use an AC adapter that I already had (because it doesn`t come with one), which wasn`t the end of the world because I have a ton of these laying around. The cartridge was easy to install. If you remember those cassette tapes from back in the day, that is what it reminds me of. There`s a rechargeable battery already installed. I haven`t had the label maker for long,so not sure about how long the battery life is. I was able to start using it immediately, so no downtime waiting for an initial charge. MY EXPERIENCEI wanted to test it out printing from my PC first, so I had to install the print driver from their website (which is all included in the instructions). It took me about 2 minutes. The online editor gives you the option to change font style, size, bold, italicizing, etc. of the labels. I really liked being able to add pictures. There are a lot of very basic clip art and symbols pre-loaded but you can even upload your own. There are simplistic preset borders that you can add to your label and you can also draw basic shapes (i.e square, ellipse, line, etc.).Tip: If you`re using this for cable management, which is on my list of to-do projects, I would strongly suggest formatting the strips so that you take advantage of the top half of the strip and the bottom half for a different device. The height of each strip is about one inch which seems like overkill for a project like that. I`m frugal, so it just makes so much more sense to just cut them in half, length-wise after you print. The adhesive is actually already pre-cut lengthwise so you can easily cut right down the center & have two labelsnice and neat. Also, if you`re not using any of the borders, I would just keep typing all of my labels on one strip , leaving enough space between in each one, then print all the way at the end of your project so that you don`t waste tape. Otherwise, you will use up quite a bit of tape, very fast. I used the Auto cut", print function and it worked perfectly. Also used the "chain printing" printing function to see if that would save some tape, as I noticed with the automatic cutter, there was about an inch of extra tape used with each label. To be honest, the chain printing didn`t seem like it really saved me any tape. PROSThe online label editor is very easy to figure out. If you`ve use ANY type of word processing program, you can figure how to use this in a couple of minutes. The print quality of the labels was great- clean and crisp. There were no jams and they printed off very quickly.I also printed off a few labels and increased the number of rows up to 4 rows of text. I liked that I could change up the font size on the different rows, but I think that three would be my max, because the font size would just be too small to be of any use beyond that.CONSAs far as printing from my phone, that experience was a bit more cumbersome. I had a difficult time connecting my phone to the device. I was able to pair, but couldn`t connect after several attempts. Very frustrating. After a little meditation, I tried again and was able to get in. Now, it seems to be working just fine. Yeh!It uses up a bit more tape than I would like. DO I RECOMMEND IT?Overall, I liked using the label maker. The useful features, general ease of use, and its great aesthetic appeal outweigh the few cons. I would definitely recommend it.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Another great device from Brother.

I like the idea that this label printer is wireless and you basically can use any device like your phone, a tablet or laptop to connect - or even Desktop - just make sure it has a Bluetooth connectivity. This unit has an internal battery, which is also convenient. Highly recommend, if you need to print a lot of labels.

Such an easy-to-use and versatile little tool!

Great little tool for all my labeling needs, and I label EVERYTHING! I love how much more versatile this compared to my original P-touch. With the Cube, I can go from the tiniest little 1/4" label to a whopping big 1" with huge letters! It also has so many fonts sometimes I have difficulty choosing - that's the Libra in me!
