Love this little Grill!

We downsized. Had to get rid of my big gas grill. Was very disappointed because I enjoy grilling meat and raw veggies. But with no place to house/store a big grill I said a sad goodbye. I saw this in REI, and thought I could make it work with little space to store it. Well I LOVE IT! Have cooked with coal lumps and wood planks... Taste is awesome!
I downsized in hassle but not in TASTE. Got the little one on a Memorial Day sale which was a bonus... cant wait til the fall to use it for a fire and camping!

We have used our Biolite fire pit all summer - both camping and even at home in place of our other fire pit - just because it’s so cool. No smoke, super efficient and gorgeous to look at. All of our friends have been blown away and now want their own!

Great Flexible Addition to our Traveling Home

My husband and I live in a small Airstream. It’s a little bit practical and a little bit romantic. We wander when we can. And we we wander we move from town to wilderness for fairly long periods of time. We never know where we will be or what we can get. Flexibility is key.
For several years now, our primary outdoor cooking tool has been the Biolite Basecamp with the Pizza Dome. We have perfected 100% grilled meals (meat and veggies), pizzas (which come off the pizza tile one after another), baked cookies, and even paella. We have cooked with split wood, kindling, and even pine cones. This summer we purchased one of Biolite’s new Fire Pits. It extends our range with a larger surface which works well for kebabs and ears of corn. It allows us to cook for more people. It allows us to burn charcoal, which is sometimes more available or more appropriate to burning regulations.
We don’t often have open fires, but it is nice to be able to transition from a cookstove to a fire pit when you want, and it provides a relatively safer environment for a group of grandkids to toast marshmallows. Being able to manage the air flow and flame from the phone, while entertaining, turns out to be relatively practical in the dark of the evening.
Fuel flexibility is more valuable than we realized. And sometimes charcoal is the proper or more available choice. The Biolite Fire Pit provides a welcome addition of flexibility and efficiency for both cooking and the enjoyment of an evening fire.

Easy to use

This fireplace is cool, I was amazed how easy it is to use. I bought the bundle and I can watch how fast the solar panel recharges the battery. We use it on our deck with the reflective pad, I can actually touch the pad under the unit and I have yet to feel heat on the pad. Very happy with our purchase.

Easy to use so far working great

Been working great for some marshmallow roasts, I'm looking forward to trying some grilling later. We have wind quite often so the smoke control is hit or miss depending on the breeze which is a known condition. Overall fun item to have around and I'm looking forward to earlier nights in fall and winter to invite more people over for smores.
