I had bought this product and although it worked great it just stopped holding a charge after the second time I used it.

would like it to be a little bigger but otherwise works pretty well. lights quickly and burns wood completely. flames are ok but with bigger crowd (say 8 people or more) really need a bigger unity. we have a regular fire pit to use for those occasions but then you are dealing with more smoke. overall i recommend this unit for quick, easy, (but smaller) fires. would be great for camping.

Excellent idea cheap materials

I love the idea of this firepit: we always start it as a charcoal hibachi grill and after we are done cooking switch to firewood firepit mode. The problem is with charcoal is it burns down it falls down the rack. I wish there was some sort of steel plate with holes just like in traditional hibachi/mangal grills. But the main reason I can't give 5 stars is the product materials: I don't think this type of metal will last: mine is already showing signs of corrosion. The time will show: I hope Biolite comes up with a new version made out of better materials. If not there will be always opportunistic people in China who will come up with a better knock off

Biolite firepit great - but it is already rusting.

I purchased this for my son's birthday and I must say it works great. Hardly any smoke and it burns beautifully. We entertain often and out guest have loved it. The one issue that I have is that it is already rusting and it looks terrible. I have contacted customer support and I'll let you know if they help me resolve the issue. I'm sure it will work fine but I'm not sure of the longevity of the product is it is already rusting and I an unable to stop it.

Hi Rick, we're sorry to hear this! The FirePit is coated in high-temperature paint during manufacture.
The best way to prevent rust is to simply keep the FirePit dry and wipe it down after each use. Please do not store the FirePit in a damp or wet environment! If rusting does become an issue, you can get the FirePit back to new with a gentle solution of white vinegar and water and a coat of high-temp paint. We can even send you a kit to do so if necessary. This product is amazing. I moved to a big city where there are a variety of rules about fire pits in back yards. Not only did this give me the campfire experience it met all the regulations and I could keep my windows open as it produces very little smoke. I put the pit on my new composite deck with the fire mat and no damage to deck at all. I would highly recommend this product
