Essential camp light.

It's lightweight, durable, charges in a jiffy, super bright, and sets one hell of a mood! Will definitely light up a tent, even dimmed. Recently our power was knocked out for a few days due to ice and I used this on and off for about 4 days before out electricity was fully restored.

Great Light

I was going to give this 4 stars but didn't think that it was appropriate since the light does everything it's supposed to. Two suggestions that would improve it: 1. I would like to be able to dim the sunlight when it is in "color" mode. This would give me versatility to use it when watching the "night sky". 2. Is it possible to reverse the power to use the sunlight to charge a device via usb? This would make it an emergency backup for your phone, smart watch, etc.

I had a small solar light that went on an old water bottle, the kids really lived it, but about six months ago it wouldn't take a charge. And then biolite sends me an ad for this beautiful piece of kit, which I immediately purchased,(and without reading the instructions) i said "this is great, but i wish the light were dimmer and that you could scroll through the colors like party mode", as we have a 2yr old learning colors and loves lights. I was completely dumbfounded a day later after coming home from work and learning that everything I wanted was already part of the light. I carry this thing everyday in my coat pocket now and I have a 2yr old that loves naming his colors as fast as they change. Thanks biolite, another brilliant product.

Great little companion light for camping adventures!

The BioLite SunLight is a great little solar powered lantern perfect for camping adventures. Its bright light and different lighting modes are great for ambiance, or lighting up a picnic table for your group. The folding stand design is firm enough to allow it to stand on most surfaces. The small lanyard hook however feels less secure if hanging from a fabric loop or small cord.
I particularly like the adjustable hues. However, there was a small learning curve to figure out how to manually change the hues and not just go into the 'Party Mode' effect. Once you get this trick down it is a wonderful way to set soft ambient lighting, or better yet setting a red light when doing this like outdoor night sky photography.
The small 'sundial' feature seemed a bit gimmicky to me at first. However, it acquits itself well in ensuring that the light is optimally aimed at the sun. The subtle strobing of the light when charging though is a bit distracting and makes me wonder how it affects the charge efficiency of the unit.
Overall a great piece of kit for camping trips. May also be suitable for backpacking but it feels a little heavy as compared to comparable solar powered lanterns on the market.

I bought one of these, played with it for a bit... ordered 4 more. Awesome light, perfect for any sport where you don't wanna carry much gear. (I'm mounting one on my Kayak as a headlight)
