Great for the brush/massage head, not so much for the epilator/razor heads.

I received the Phillips Prestige Wet & Dry Satinelle Epilator as a sample for my unbiased review.
I had tried the Epilady way back when it first came out in the late 80's early 90's and remember the "tweezing" feeling it did to my legs with the coils, so I was really interested in trying the latest version.
In the box are 9 different pieces that work with the Epilator. The first test was with the epilator head. I used this in the shower where my legs were wet, no shaving cream (the instructions state not to use any). I did one leg and after spending about 7 minutes I felt I did not get the same results as shaving with a blade. I switched to the razor head, again while wet, and did the other leg. Again, I did not get the same results as with a blade, so I was a little disappointed in this. The hair on my legs was not significantly long so that may have come into play.
The second time I used the epilator, I used the brush and massage heads. I liked the brush head to get off the dead skin. Not too hard, and not too soft. Used shower gel on it and it lathered pretty well. A few days later and my legs still feel soft.
The massage head is pretty good for small spots to loosen up some kinks. I think if the handle was a little longer it would have reached the needed spots on my shoulders. Felt good on my arms and legs.
I dried all the pieces used off as soon as I got out of the shower and put back in the storage bag that comes with the epilator.
To sum it up... great for the brush/massage heads, not so great for the epilator/razor heads.
I would recommend this to a friend!

A Great Improvement over previous brands!

This review is for the Philips Satinelle Prestige Wet and Dry Epilator BRE650. I received this product for free as part of the STARS Research Experience to test and give an honest opinion on it after several uses. I have used a different brand epilator for about 20 years so I am very familiar with epilators and how they work. The Philips Satinelle Prestige was much more comfortable than the previous brands I had used with virtually no painful pulling of the hairs. This was quite a surprise for me. What I love about using epilators over regular shaving methods is the time you can go between shaves. With my fine hair, I can go a month or longer; shaving with razors had to be done about twice a week.
The Epilator came partially charged and took about 30 minutes to finish charging. I found the directions to be complete and easy to understand. It feels solid, well-made and fits my hand comfortably. I found it very easy to attach/detach the included attachments.
I attached the Efficiency Cap to help keep it properly aligned to the skin, it worked well to help me get used to the angle needed to hold it while using. I later tried it without the cap and it worked fine. I kept waiting for it to pull hairs and hurt but it didn’t. The ceramic “blades” must be the reason why it didn’t hurt. I then attached the Massage Cap which I found the most enjoyable with the little rollers gliding easily on the skin. I especially loved the light on this unit, I think it is my favorite feature. Light was always an issue for me using other brands and not being able to see well under normal room lights. The directions recommending pre-shaving with the included Shaving Head if hairs are longer than 1/8th inch, but mine were probably closer to 1/4 inch and I didn’t experience any problems. Some took a few passes, but most hairs were removed on the first pass. In comparison, my previous epilators took several passes to remove most hairs. I kept looking to see that they were actually removed because there was no pain. That was a pleasant surprise as I expected at least some discomfort. I tried both speeds, 1 and 2, and found 1 to be a little slower and seemed more efficient for me. I used this product dry as I have never shaved in the shower anyway, and found no discomfort after use.
I also tested the other attachments; the Shaving Head works very well, as does the Trimmer Attachment that fits over it. I didn’t find it necessary to “pre-shave” with it, but it’s a nice option if needed. I tested the Body Exfoliation Brush, it was a little too soft for me, I would prefer a stiffer brush so it was probably my least favorite feature. The Body Massage Head is nice, it feels quite soothing against sore muscles.
I found cleaning to be easy just following the directions. The brush works well to clean the blades and they rinse clean under water as well.
In my opinion, this was a well thought-out design, solid and very comfortable to use. I would highly recommend this, especially to those who have never used an epilator. I found it surprisingly easy to use, the attachments all go on quickly with a low learning curve. They do offer a 45-day Money-back guarantee and a full, 2-year warranty, which tells me they believe in their product as well.
Pros: the light really helps to see what your doing.
Cons: exfoliating brush could be a little stiffer.

I received this product as a free sample to try and review and I must say it is great! I like the two heads and the two speed settings. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a epilator. It is a great safe product to use in removing unwanted hair.
