Kitchen showpiece with amazing features!

I purchased the Cafe Refrigerator Model CFE28TP3MD1 a few months ago and it has been the best kitchen purchase decision I have made. It has a beautiful finish on the exterior along with beautiful handles with lots of finish choices. It has amazing features such as touch screen controls, exterior cold & hot water dispenser with auto cubed or crushed ice, beautiful interior recessed lighting and lots of space inside of top refrigerator as well as in the bottom freezer. Two of my favorite features are undoubtedly the text messaging notification feature when your hot water is ready along with the photo slide show. This new refrigerator is most definitely a showpiece in our kitchen and engages my family and friends as they pass by. Everyone who visits asks who makes this refrigerator and I proudly tell them GE and that the Cafe series is one of their new lines. I would say that this IOTs refrigerator is one of my new best tech friends. All in all, it is a well made refrigerator and I would highly recommend this appliance! It's simply the best!

Poor durability and noisy operation

I bought this a few years ago and noticed strange noises from the start. The repair man kept coming and saying “sounds fine to me”, I had had a GE refrigerator for 15 years prior and knew that the noises were not “normal”. Four short years into ownership and the fridge is incredibly loud, sometimes it sounds like a small gas motor engine, and it’s failing. Needless to say I’m disappointed and could not recommend based on our experience. It is very pretty and the hot water dispenser is good. The ice compartment is too small but that’s par for the price point.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Cafe refrigerator/freezer?

After spending considerable of money redoing our kitchen our previous unit stopped. Purchased this model because we wanted a white refrigerator/freezer. We were not aware of the black sides until delivery. The unit was stocked the second day and much to our surprise, two shelves on the left of the refrigerator door were not deep enough to even hold jelly jars. The bottom one was okay, but the middle and top can contain nothing. Engineers were off a bit when they made those measurements. The adjustments for temperature are good.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

2 problems already

This appliance was put in our brand new house. The hot water never worked. Now the water stopped completely. It's only month 4 by the way. After researching this is seems to be a known common problem. You would think you would get an actual high end fridge for what we paid. I'm not happy with this purchase.

Beautiful and spacious

The GE cafe is a great focal point when you walk into our kitchen. Not only visually pleasing to look at, it is quite generous in size. It's well lit and roomy. The electronic panel guides you through steps to retrieve cold and hot water. The handles are sturdy and inside door panels have deep shelves for dressings, sauces, butter, etc. I'm excited to use this fridge for years to come!

So easy and convenient!

Im so incredibly pleased with our new Cafe GE Appliance. It has been easy to learn and after a long day at the hospital i do not have to wait for the water to boil in the pot i can get a cup of hot water instantly. This was the perfect time to have this during the stress of the pandemic!
