Poor quality, poor service

This refrigerator is spacious, but the hot water feature is not working less than a year into our ownership of the refrigerator. We called in a service call early November which GE scheduled for early December - we waited a month for the service date. On the service date the tech was supposed to arrive between 1pm and 5 pm. He called at 11:50 while I was in a meeting and left a message saying that he was in the area and wanted to come earlier. I called back at 12:30 and he said he was leaving the area and I would have to reschedule. It was a very rude call - not worth going into those details. However, we called to reschedule and got cut off 3 times - unlikely it was our phone. Then the website was down and they couldn't find a tech to service us. Now two weeks later, after almost a dozen phone calls, website visits, and multiple hours of time invested, we are just past our warranty period and GE service says they will not service it under warranty. I have owned GE stock many times throughout the years and only buy GE products because I am a huge supporter of the company - through think and thin. But this experience (in addition to a similar experience with the Cafe Dishwasher) has made me second guess my support of the company. Its licensing agreement with whoever makes these appliances is tarnishing GE's reputation.

Great space but some design flaws

So I really like my new GE fridge as fast as basic space and storage, but I find the feature upgrades very disappointing. Partly it is my own fault because I didn’t do enough research, but seriously what’s the point of the precise fill button if it isn’t hands free? If you fill your water regularly you push it against the lever and it counts the ounces going in. When you push precise fill it stops at whatever you preset, but you still have to hold it down the whole time. I was under the impression I’d be able to leave a water bottle on the pull out tray and walk away while it filled. The hot water feature is also very disappointing, again you know what they say about assuming..., but I thought the hot water would be available immiditly all of the time, like on a Cullison, sadly no. You have to turn it on and wait (longer than it take for me to microwave or hear a kettle of water). Finally the ice maker being on the door takes up way more door storage than I had anticipated you can only fit very skinny things on that side...., but it does give you more freezer space. Also was not give an option of door handle colors, when I ordered it and just found out about it. I assumed they would be the same color to match the rest of my new GE appliances, but no, comes with stainless steel You cannot exchange so I just have to buy the new ones; what a waste.
Other than that great fridge. Love the led lights and the space in the fridge. The seperator in the freezer works really well. I have a deep freeze so don’t need a ton of freezer space, but for those who do, def has more without the ice machine in the freeEr. if I could do it again I would buy the GE profile that has the separate deli drawer you can open without opening the top fridge drawers. A few 100 less and the upgrade features just aren’t worth it and it’s probably the drawer I use the most and have to open both fridge doors each time.

We can understand your frustration when an appliance doesn't meet your expectations and that you weren't informed that the handles could be changed for an additional charge to a different color. There are safety features that we have to adhere to regarding the hot water feature. The water storage tank holds approximately 22 ounces of water and you can dispense 10 ounces of hot water at a time. The Precise Fill eliminates the need for a measuring cup. It allows you to use any container when you are baking to get just the amount of water needed or your recipe. It isn't the same as the hands free autofill. refrigerator of my dreams but

I bought this product because of the look and expecting good quality but I was so disappointed when 5 months later it is not working at all. It's a beautiful piece of junk right now.

Great looking fridge but loud

The matte white finish with bronze handles is really one of a kind and is a great look. The ice in the door saves room in the fridge but realize it has a smaller capacity so you will have to make ice separately if you are entertaining. The matching matte white side panels fit "ok". They interfere a little with the door gasket and a screw at the bottom. Otherwise pretty easy to install- they just stick to the sides, you will need a star drive or ratchet set. The inside is all white (not grey like the more expensive 4- door model), really nicely lit and well organized. Some of the door shelves have rubber mattress and some don't. The butter compartment door doesn't stay open. The plastic partitions in the freezer and deli are kinda flimsy. The doors don't open wide enough to be able to pull out the produce or deli drawers without removing a shelf on the door. The doors also don't close on their own, you have to push them a little to shut. The door alarm chime is able to be turned off via the touch screen controls which is nice IMO. The hot water dispenser is a nice feature for tea drinkers. Realize it isnt instant hot water, you have to wait about 1 minute or so for it to be ready. It then dispenses 10 oz (1 mug) at a time. You can then get a few refills out of it until it has to heat back up again. There are also several pre-set temperature settings plus a custom set. My only disappointment about this fridge is the noise of the fan whirling and the compressor buzzing. There's nothing wrong with the fridge, it's just loud - sounds like a commercial cooler even from the bedrooms of my open format house - especially in my small kitchen where the sides of the fridge are exposed. I haven't figured out how to deaden the sound of it yet but most of the noise is coming from the back of the unit.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Terrible reliability

Fridge is less than two years old and has on several occasions failed to keep a consistent temperature. I would avoid the GE brand as their reliability is questionable at best

Do not buy unless you want fingerprints everywhere

This fridge is not fingerprint resistant. And when trying to clean them off, it gets worse. For something so expensive you would think it would be free of fingerprints as others are.
