Great Camera

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This outdoor security camera is really useful. We've had it set up for a little while now, and really like it. The camera was fairly easy to setup and connect to the wifi, and I find the video quality to be really clear, including nighttime video. I have found the camera to be fairly accurate at tracking motion outside of our house as well. We were also just away for the past weekend, and it was nice to be able to see outside of our house in the app, even when note home. I would recommend this.

Easy set up

I love that I can have a look into my backyard while I’m asleep or at work. I would recommend this product to anyone looking to up their security and have a little more peace of mind with their surroundings.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] You do need some simple tools to install the camera but it doesn’t take too long. Quality of the frames is great not only during the day but at night as well. Peace of mind when I’m not home is priceless.

Adequate camera lacking storage space though

Hopefully this Swann Wi-Fi 1080p Outdoor Security Camera will work out for me since I’ve only been using this camera for two weeks. The box came with the Wi-Fi 1080p outdoor security camera, an antenna, power & ethernet cable, power adapter, L-wrench, and hex screws. This is a stand-alone camera, which means you don’t need additional equipment.
Some of the pros include: 1) Capture details like faces & clothing patterns & more in crystal clear 1080p, day & night, 2) Swann’s True Detect heat & motion detection reliably records activity & alerts you, 3) Connect in minutes to your existing Wi-Fi network or use the Ethernet port for a wired connection, 4) It's built tough for the outdoors & can withstand sunshine and rain.
Some of the pros include: 1) Capture details like faces & clothing patterns & more in crystal clear 1080p, day & night, 2) Swann’s True Detect heat & motion detection reliably records activity & alerts you, 3) Connect in minutes to your existing Wi-Fi network or use the Ethernet port for a wired connection, 4) It's built tough for the outdoors & can withstand sunshine and rain.
Some of the cons include: 1) while you can hear what's happening onscreen & offscreen including conversations, noises, sirens; but you cannot talk back like two way talk for automatically turn on siren to scare away robber, 2) most important cameras with a nvr system can save recorded clips in GB storage; this stand alone camera can only save small clips for 7 days and that’s it.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Taking that into consideration, we designed our second-generation model SWIFI-SPOTCAM. This model will have 2-way audio features that will allow you to speak to anyone at the camera. Local storage on our Wifi security solutions are limited and can often be expanded by adding on a Swann Security Storage Plan. If your recorder and wireless cameras all use the Swann Security application, they can all be remotely accessed and controlled from one application.

Setup is easy

The system works seamlessly, I have 6 cameras setup, but you can always add more. The picture looks clear with little pixilation.

Rugged Camera, but with flaws

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First off let me say that this camera is RUGGED. The all metal body is solid and heavy, but the base is plastic with minimal angle adjustments which can make it tricky to get the right angle. I can see the base giving out over time after being exposed to the sun, and with the weight of the camera adding stress to it. This kit also comes with a long cable set to allow you to place the camera further out, and the camera and cable set allows you to connect your camera via ethernet if you don't have wireless or would prefer to have a direct wired connection. The app is clunky, and isn't laid out very well. It was tricky to get the camera connected and setup through it. It was trickier to get the firmware updated as well, and took multiple tries; it doesn't tell you if/when the firmware is updating until after its done. I also wasn't able to view the live feed or recorded test clips until I unplugged the camera's power and plugged it back in. The app just isn't very good, nothing like other apps I've used for other cameras. The video quality is pretty good on this, and you can zoom in with moderate quality loss. The app indicates that you should have a microphone, but we weren't able to get that working. It took a while for the video clips to load as well. I'd classify this camera as a niche item, in that it would work good if you just want to setup a camera just to see if there's any activity in the recording area, but if you need it for actual security use or in a critical or priority area, then I'd look at other options.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great Camera!

The app is pretty straightforward and easy to use. I have it plugged into my Xmas lights outlet under my gutter which was perfect. This camera has a very good build quality and I expect it to last a long time.

Take into consideration the amount of walls the Wi-Fi signal must pass through and their construction. The more solid the building material or the more metal the signal must pass through the more impact it has on the Wi-Fi signal. Also take note of electrical equipment and other appliances that may affect the Wi-Fi signal.
