This is a great unit. Images are clear and sharp. Best is how easy it was to connect and set up. Mobile app is also easy to install, two thumbs up. Highly recommend it.

Good results for a DVR system with a nice price. Can I add an extra WiFi camera to it ?

I have working with good success a DVR8-5580G system at home with 4 cabled cameras and the DVR device connected and monitoring by internet with Swan Security iOS iPhone software.
Can I add a WiFi camera to the DVR 5580G system and control it similar as the other ones in same account ?
I read about the WIFI-SPOTCAM Spotlight Outdoor Security Camera, can it works ?
Which other WIFI camera model do you recommend ? With 4k ?

I bought this camera survyience system because the neighborhood that I live in .So far I haven't needed it. But it was easy to hook up, everything is working with ease.nobody should have a problem if I can do it.

Not what I thought it would be.

I brought this two weeks ago and not impressed with the picture quality has it doesn’t look like 4k more like 720p pretty much the same before I upgraded and looks a little fussy at time. Had issues with the Ethernet port being faulty at times. To be honest my other set up is seven years old and I don’t see much difference.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

To achieve the maximum resolution make sure you are connected to a 4K monitor. The camera has 3 different settings for streaming quality; low, medium, and high. If you are having problems streaming you can lower the settings and test to see if it improves. Note that lowering the stream settings does not affect the quality of the recordings. If you have very fast upload speeds you can set your camera to high, but if your upload speed is not that good then we recommend you use medium or low for the streaming setting. 3 out of 4 security lights started flickering in 8 months

In about 8 months 3 out of 4 cameras had flickering security lights when triggered. When the first one started acting up I initiated a warranty claim by email. This was a fairly lengthy process, by the time I had the first camera approved for replacement the others had failed. I asked if I could get those handled at the same time and was told I would have to start separate claims. It is not worth the hassle to do this for me. I just turned off the security light function. Obviously these lights are a issue if I have 3 out of four doing this.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Motion Detected Push Notifications to Android don't work - Its a Known Thing

Bought this as a replacement for my 4 year old Swann which had completely failed. This seems better and improved with more storage but whilst the push notifications to my android phone work for camera power loss/restored they don't work for motion detection active - apparently its a known thing but Swann don't know how to fix it. I have followed all the online help, but it doesn't ....

A few upgrades needed

I recently bought the 45580WL and I am pretty happy with it so far but have found a few flaws that I think could be fixed with updates.
1. The PIR sensors are a bit laggy when they activate the night led light for the colour vision. It takes around 2 seconds before the lights are activated when the PIR activates at night which means any car driving past or person on a bike will not show what colour the cars/bikes as they have already pass and out of view. Could be a deal breaker if vision is needed for the police.
2. When using the main hard-drive to view on a tv or monitor you do not have the same functions as the app does, mainly the alarm feature. If something happens and you need to activate the alarm, you have to find your phone/iPad, open the app then find the camera then activate the alarm. I personally do not think that this is practical if needed in an emergency while watching it unfold on your tv/monitor.
3. When using the instant replay ( not the playback ) function, there should be a fast forward/rewind/slow function instead of going into the main playback function.
4. When adding additional wifi cameras as this is only a 4 channel, you can only view the extra cameras on the app but not with the main unit like on a monitor or tv. This also can be fixed with an update on the main hard-drive.
# 2 & # 3 should also be able to access them without logging on which could be also a time saver if need in an emergency.
All these issues could be easily fix with an update.
Besides these issues that i personally think would be a benefit I am happy with my purchase.
