I am pleased with the performace of this machine

I am very pleased with the performance of this machine. The instructions were simple to follow with clear graphics that walked you through each step. I have tried several different types of bread and each batch came out warm and tasty, just be sure to follow the instructions to the letter and add the ingredients in the proper order. I really like the crust color setting. It's useful if you like a darker crust. The manual does come with a number of simple recipes, I only wish that it included some more complex varieties. I'm not much of a baker but this is one appliance i plan to use on a regular basis in the kitchen. Full disclosure: I did receive this product as a sample to review.

I receive this bread maker as a sample to try and I love it. I have used this machine 2-3 times every week since I have received it! I've made a regular loaf (3 hours), a semi express (80 minutes) and an express loaf (58 minutes). I wasn't entirely scientific, since each recipe was slightly different, but each one turned out well. I had to add an extra tablespoon of water, and where I could modify the crust color, I chose light. In all there instances, the bread was tasty, a nice texture, and a pretty loaf.
I'm looking forward to trying more variations, wheat, pumpkin, sweet beads, etc.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great bread maker! This is my 1st time ever using a bread machine and I'm very surprised! The instruction manual/recipe book was probably the best part as it was very easy to follow & understand. The only thing I wish it had was a Gluten-Free recipe and function on the machine. I won't be able to get as much use out of it without that feature.. But it does a great job for regular breads!

I will never purchase another Oster bread maker because I cannot depend on the final product, even after following directions specifically. Do not buy an Oster bread maker!

good for making dough, no good for baking

As other people says, the bread is keep collapsing.. also the inside of the pan is peeing. I called MA oster center to buy the accessory but the employee is extremely unkind..so I just gave up. The oster website should list the accessories of the bread machine and start selling them online.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I am sorry to hear about your terrible experience with customer service. i want to help you with your bread maker today, so here are several causes for bread to collapse or cave in (sunken top):
First Cause:
1. Too much yeast
2. Liquids are present
3.There is not enough flour
4.Temperature of the liquids is not correct
Recommendations:
When correct salt and sugar amounts are used, a small increase of these two ingredients may be a remedy. Or, try reducing the water called for by 1/4 to 4 tablespoons.
Other cause could be due to high humidity or high temperatures are present. At such time, add 1 to 2 tablespoons flour or decrease the liquid. A quick-rise yeast may have been used. Too much yeast will cause the loaf to have a course, open grain and a flattened or sunken top. If you are still unable to have success, please contact Oster direct at (800) 334-0759. I will be more than happy to go over more troubleshooting with you. Thanks!

Good for first machine

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have owned this for about 5 years now. I am overall very happy with it. I bought it because I do not have the time I used to to make bread. I wish there were more recipes for it, my favorite is the country bread. With some experimentation, you can adapt almost any hand recipe up to the last rise or bake step, except rye breads. They seem to be too sticky for the machine. If you are a first time buyer as I was here are a couple of things I have discovered:
1. Keep it out of cold drafts, our kitchen in IL was drafty in the winter, there were times the bread would not rise evenly or cook correctly.
2. If you make a mistake in the settings once the pan is snapped it, it can be a stubborn about letting you change them. Unplug it, pull out the pan, wait a few moment, then snap the pan back in and try to reset. This does not always work either.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this bread maker as a sample and I am very happy with the product. I love all of the different settings and cannot wait to make cake. I tried the basic bread recipe that came with the maker, and it turned out delicious! I can't wait to experiment with other ingredients. The maker itself is very user friendly and takes no time at all to prepare the bread. I am highly satisfied with this product and recommend it to everyone!
