When the bread machine first arrived, I was surprised just how big it was. For it to stay on my countertop, it would have to be pretty awesome. I set it up as instructed and went about following the directions to make the first basic loaf. It was super simple to load everything in the pan and turn the My kids and I were very amused watching the ingredients spinning through the window on the top of the machine. Two hours later we got a little impatient as the scent of fresh baked bread filled the house. There really is nothing better! Once the bread was done and cooled a bit, we were very happy with the results. The entire loaf was gone in less time than it took to cook it! We have been using the machine for a few weeks now 2-3 times per week. We have tried a few recipes from the book and they all have turned out really well. I do wish the recipe book that comes with the machine were a little more durable but that's such a minor gripe in the grand scheme of things. In the end, this wonderful bread machine has earned it's spot on the countertop in my kitchen :-) ***Disclaimer: This product was provided as a sample to review***

I bought this product 8 years ago when my arthritis got so bad I could no longer knead the bread I love to make. The only time I've had any problems with a collapsing loaf is when my yeast was old & I didn't notice it until after I'd baked. I have even experimented using other bread recipes in the machine, just making sure to add the ingredients in the same order Oster recommends. Works great. My only drawback has been the oddly shaped loaf it makes. I solved this problem by using the dough setting for everything, then forming loaves that fit in a regular loaf pan. the 2# setting will make 2 regular size loaves.

We bought this machine....almost ...20 years ago and I was able to replace the basket when the spindal broke, and I was able to replace the paddle when I accidently left it in a loaf I gave away for a donation....duh! I wouldn't trade this machine for anything. My kitchen would be naked without it. xxxooo Oster! ps I also have the little red 10 cup rice maker and I love it tooooo! Oster you rock!

I got this bread maker to try and review. the first loaf of bread was amazing it comes perfectly and had no issues. since then however every loaf of bread I have made has sunken in. one loaf sunk in so bad there was no bread in the center. I have had this issue on 4 loaves of bread now. i love the flavor of the bread but the sunken loaves leave something to be desired. also the extended hold on the bread doesn't seem to work all that well. if you want bread later at night and you set it in the morning the water gets too cold and the bread does not rise like it is supposed to. all in all I love making fresh bread but this does not work as well as I would like for it to work.

Wow! I understand your frustrations about your bread collapsing in the middle. Try reducing liquids 1 tsp. at a time and try increasing flour 1 tsp. at a time while the machine is kneading until the dough forms a round, smooth ball. Too much yeast will cause the loaf to have a course, open grain and a flattened or sunken top. If you are still having problems with your bread maker, please contact Oster direct at (800) 438-0935. Our Oster specialist will be more than happy to assist you. Thanks!

I love my bread maker, it is easy to use and clean, it stores well inside my cabinet and doesn't take up too much space on the counter while in use. I really enjoy making fresh bread for sandwiches and dinners now. The express bake is great, and the recipe book has great options including recipes for doughs, which made our family pizza night so much easier and healthier! I recommend it to anyone that loves fresh bread but doesn't want to go through the hassle of turning on the oven, which is awesome since I live in Florida and heating up the house in the summer isn't an option!

Admittedly this is my first bread maker but I was impressed. The bread baked evenly and to perfection every single time. Clean up is super easy with the non stick pan. So far I've only baked bread but I have surmised it is plausible to also make pizza dough, I think I will tackle that next. This bread maker is serious high quality. It's obvious that it's durable and performs the same even after multiple uses. I have started to bake bread 2-3 times a week now and all thanks to this machine! The timer function is serious one f the best parts. Need bread fast? Need it to be done 13 hours from now or in between? You have that option! With my busy life that truly comes in handy and so far it's accurate every time. I highly recommend picking this bread maker up whether you're a beginner or a longtime bread baker!
