Disappointing

Installed by builder, very disappointed in this dishwasher. Must run hot water for several minutes prior to running. Also must pre wash by hand or dishes will not get clean. This is not energy saving as most times it must be run twice to get all dishes clean. I use recommended detergent and rinse aid with no noticeable difference.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Rusts Quickly, and is Very Loud
on October 16, 2023

This dishwasher came installed in our new home. We've had it for just under 3 years. It started rusting maybe a year ago, and it's gotten to the point where it's dangerous to use - almost impossible to load without scratching yourself.
The dishwasher is also incredibly loud. We have an open kitchen/living space, and you can't run the dishwasher if anyone is going to be hanging out because it's hard to hear someone talk, and you'd have to blast the TV. Even with the delay function, when the dishwasher goes on in the middle of the night, it wakes me,
The only reason I gave it 2 stars is that it cleans fairly well.

Hi! We appreciate you for leaving us a review. We are so sorry to hear that your dishwasher is rusting after only 3 years of use. This is not normal operation, and we recommend replacing the racks to ensure you are not scratched while loading the dishwasher. The compatible upper rack assembly is part WD28X30219, and lower rack assembly is part WD28X26099. Both of these racks can be viewed and purchased on our parts website at the links below.
Thank you for choosing GE Appliances for your home. We hope to gain your confidence back with our products. Please let us know if we can be of any assistance in the future. - Adrian@GEAppliances

Door latch
on November 1, 2023

We have had our dishwasher for two years. Last month it would try to start and complete a cycle then all of a sudden it would just shut off. Is this because the door latch on the top of the dishwasher is broken? I noticed that the part that grabs the dishwasher door and move supposed to happen?

Door latch and a dishwasher doesn’t work
on November 1, 2023

Our dishwasher was installed by the builder. We’ve had the dishwasher for 2 years. In the last 2 months, the dishwasher would trying to finish each cycle. But didn’t and will even go the dry cycle. I noticed that the door latch on the dishwasher would move but it would still catch the door. Does this mean that the door latch needs to be replaced?

Poor builder quality new home appliance
on November 1, 2023

Lower rack began rusting all over after only 12 months of very light use. 1 hour wash won't boost water temperature. Why?? Thin stainless on front (caves in easily). NOISY. You must use most expensive detergents to get clean dishes and normal wash which takes 3 HOURS!!

Hello,
Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your appliance. We're sorry to hear that your dishwasher rack rusted.
It is important to use high quality detergents, such as Cascade® Platinum™ ActionPacs™ or Finish® Quantum® Automatic Dishwashing Detergent. We also recommend using a rinse agent to improve drying performance and prevent film from forming on your dishes. Details on how to use the detergent and rinse aid dispensers are available on page 8 of the Use and Care Manual at this link: https://products-salsify.geappliances.com/image/upload/s--NqOwbAzn--/da518f9c79ea9964e31d77b9507d3da12a3db05f.pdf?_ga=2.265823503.1882447433.1698671474-1734451522.1686318769

Do Not Buy!
on December 2, 2023

I would highly recommend not buying this product. Within 2 years of owning it the entire rack is rusted causing all our plates and bowls to get rust on them. Additionally, the dishwasher soap does not get dispensed fully so you are either left with soap on your dishes or only half is used (we’ve tried 3 different kinds of soap). The final thing you’ll encounter is it does a very poor job drying your dishes.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Regretful Purchase - GE® ENERGY STAR® Dishwasher
on December 17, 2023
Posted by: BrandonWork992
from Ohio
I am writing this review with deep disappointment after owning the GE® ENERGY STAR® Top Control with Plastic Interior Dishwasher for just two years. My experience with this appliance has been nothing short of a nightmare, and I feel compelled to share my concerns.
First and foremost, the durability of the dishwasher is shockingly subpar. After just one year past the manufacturer's warranty, the racks inside the machine began rusting extensively. This not only affects the aesthetics but also raises serious questions about the quality of materials used in its construction. For a product boasting the ENERGY STAR® label, I expected better longevity and resistance to such fundamental issues.
The noise level during operation is another major drawback. This dishwasher is far from being discreet; in fact, it's remarkably loud. I find it disruptive and inconvenient, especially during the evenings or when guests are present. The noise factor alone significantly diminishes the overall user experience.
The door latch mechanism is also a major design flaw. The plastic materials used in its construction seem to compromise its functionality. The latch doesn't properly secure the door, requiring extra jiggling and adjustment just to get a cycle to run.. This constant struggle with the latch matches the other cheap plastic used all over the inside.
To add insult to injury, my dishwasher has now reached a point where it won't even complete a cycle. The pump runs incessantly, and the machine fails to progress beyond adding a bit of water. This failure is not only frustrating but renders the entire appliance useless. It's evident that the machine is poorly made, even for a model positioned as a more affordable option.
In conclusion, if you're considering purchasing the GE® ENERGY STAR® Top Control with Plastic Interior Dishwasher, I strongly advise against it. Save yourself the trouble and frustration by investing in a more reliable and durable dishwasher from a different manufacturer. If you do decide to take the risk with this model, I recommend purchasing an extended warranty to protect yourself from the disappointment and inconvenience that I've unfortunately experienced firsthand.

Has needed repairs constantly.
on January 3, 2024
Posted by: Scrambledmegs123
We’ve had our dishwasher for three years. By the end of year one, the racks were rusting. End of year two, we had to replace the User Interface and motherboard. Now on to year three, the arms will no longer spin. They are not clogged. I’m assuming an issue with the diverter valve. The cost for someone to come and repair is exceptionally high and I’m tired of purchasing parts for replacement. We were in a new build and didn’t have a choice of our dishwasher. Unless it’s all you can afford, opt out of this one unless you’re prepared to repair it constantly.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
