The dishwasher will not work. In trouble shooting, it appears that the system is reflecting that the door is still open

This dishwasher came with our Ryan Home which is only 2 years old. Dishwasher won't start and the control panel won't light up. Circuit breaker and power is OK. I expected GE to be better than this!!!

Non-functional after <8 months
on January 5, 2022
Posted by: Pete_NoLatch
I've had my dishwasher (model gdt535psm5ss) since about May 2021. Today (January 5, 2022) the dishwasher will not run any cycle. Instead, any attempt to run a cycle results in 3 beeps and an amber light on the front. Troubleshooting indicates either the door latch has failed (all lights blinking when door closed with troubleshooting mode active) or one of the boards on the device has failed (lack of communication from latch to elsewhere). I've never slammed or forced the door shut, and visual inspection of the latch reveals no clear flaw or breakage.
Given that I've had the machine less than a year and only use it about 3 times a week, I'm not impressed and will look elsewhere for dishwashers in the future. Do not recommend.

Expect better from GE

Our brand new home (July 2019) came with GE appliances. It has not even been 3 years and our dishwasher is dead! The dishwasher started beeping at random times and now is completely dead (outlet is getting power) not too mention the racks have been rusting for some time now. Upon reading reviews, I see that I am not the only one with this issue. I expect a company like GE to stand behind their product when this is a common/repeat issue as it appears in these reviews. This is widespread quality issue with your product GE…do better! Perhaps this is a recall that needs to be further investigated since so many customers are having the same experience.

I expect better from GE

We bought our new home in 2020 and this was the dishwasher installed. About 6 months ago just one month after the warranty expired our dishwasher started beeping randomly and losing power. We would reset the power. Unplug and plug the dishwasher back in. Eventually it would turn back on. We even had our home builders warranty department check out the electrical plug and circuit breaker to ensure no issues. It all checked out fine. At 18 months the dishwasher has died. It’s apparent from your reviews that this is a huge issue with this model. Has there been a recall or fix for this issue? As it stands now, we will no longer buy GE products. 18 months is unacceptable. Also the rusting of the racks is absolutely horrible.

Will never dry your dishes. I’m on my 3rd one

My GE dishwasher broken down and needed to be replaced three times within the first year of owning it. None of those three dishwashers actually dried my dishes. Interestingly every single new house on my block that came with a GE dishwasher is experiencing the same problem no matter what type of model they got. I’ve noticed they delete bad reviews so if you see this before it gets deleted save yourself time and money and buy any other brand.
