The variable speed fan isn't. The noise is absolutely like a jet engine.

Very hard to be in the room with this vent hood. When operating, it works fine - just so loudly no one can hear themselves think. I have complained and asked what the solution may be, but no one can offer a solution. The style is clean and the brand is supposed to be among the best - too bad it hasn't been satisfactory in other areas.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I made a previous comment & wrote a very negative review about this range hood (refer to mikimikh, Saratoga). Well, an actual person from Broan contacted me, Tammy, and she actually read/listened to my issues & she came through for me! She got in contact with a Broan technician, Chuck, & he authorized the repair with my local repair shop. Now I have a brand new motor!
One thing I didn't know until the repair was the importance of the internal/external blower. We have an internal blower. The repairmen mentioned that he would've just turned around & couldn't work on it, if it was an external blower. I would have had to go back to my general contractor. Thus, I'm also updating & giving the product 5 stars for the ease of installation. Hew!
We now have a motor & I'm actually using it. And, it does a great job! I even feel the air being sucked in when I'm standing under it!
Most important for me was the fact that Broan actually heard its customer and have a very capable/effective customer service dept! Even if the product had issues initially, the way they took care of it restored my faith in the company that stood behind its product!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Looked good in the store and had good reviews on-line, but our experience has been less than stellar. Installation was average. Design is good except for the lights. The fixtures are cheap and broke just from touching and do not allow easy install of the bulb. I cannot get the bulb installed in either socket. Why halogen? They are costly and don't last more than 1 1/2 years. LED should be the standard. The stainless steel is great and the draft is good, but the lights are very very poor. For the price it should be much better.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Excellent range hood

We are very pleased with our hood. We searched for awhile to find the right one. The Broan hood looks great and is sturdy. The lights and fan are great. We chose Broan because the specifications were what we wanted, the look was want we wanted and it doesn't say "Broan" on it. We didn't want to have our hood with a brand name all over it. We would definitely recommend Broan hoods.

We did a complete kitchen remodel in September 2011. When shopping for a range hood, we wanted something very simple. In terms of style, our kitchen is probably what you would call traditional. I wanted clean lines. The power of the fan is so much better than our old one and even when cranked on "high" its not as loud as I would have expected. Also love the light it gives while cooking. Nice and bright! I can't comment on the installation because it was done by our contractor.

Easy to follow instructions and installation. I was a little concerned about the internal exhaust motor, but found it to be more efficient than stated.
Excellent lighting system, it has two levels, low and high.
