Great cooktop. Easy touch controls.

I gave it 4 stars rather than 5 because there are brown spots that are showing up under a few units that can not be cleaned with cooktop cleaner. I have a feeling it is from hot spots on pans that is causing the issue. If the glass was black rather than the gray I dont think it would show up as much

Our cookware is supposedly all compatible with induction cooktops, but the burners only recognize about half of them. And they’re all the same line and same maker!! It’s super frustrating to pay this much for something and only be able to use half of it. Also it takes AGES for a pot of water to come to a boil.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Induction uses magnets to heat cookware directly, so to be compatible with induction your cookware simply needs to be magnetic. I purchased this cooktop about three years ago, after online research. I use predominantly cast iron and All-Clad cookware and was excited about switching to induction from gas. I love the streamlined appearance and the ease of cleaning. The range of features are also quite nice. However, from the beginning it has been a struggle to cook evenly when using skillets and other low pans. The food cooks much faster in the center than at the outside edges, regardless of the temperature at which it is set. I match the bottom of my cookware to the correct cooking element. Eggs, pancakes, pan-seared steaks, etc. all cook unevenly, and I must carefully watch and rotate items in a pan for more consistent cooking. This alone prevents me from recommending this product. It is disappointing that the beveled edges are prone to cracking (see photo), but not entirely unexpected.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Looks great, works well, easy 2 use, weird install

The cooktop looks great. Its controls are intuitive, responsive, and easy to use. The only strange behavior we have seen so far is when it detected a problem with a small pot. Maybe it was because we poured boiling water into the pot before turning it on. It would turn itself off after a few seconds. This is a perfect case for using the app to provide more information, but there was nothing there. Big miss. Using the same pot with cold water has worked fine. The other problem is the installation. It comes with a limited amount of thick tape, so after installation, there's this huge gap that 1. will collect crumbs and dirt underneath, and 2. will make the border much more vulnerable to chipping. The installers said this is what was provided in the package, so this needs to be fixed by GE/Cafe. There should be thin tape that attaches cleanly to the edge, so the cooktop can rest against the countertop all around the edge.
