As gas was not available in my area, chose induction cooktop. It boils water quickly and has worked well so far.

Induction is better then gas

Got this cooktop to replace a gas unit. This is my second induction appliance so I'm used to it. All the advantages of gas with none of the downsides. Very responsive to temperature settings. Much easier to clean up spills since they don't get cooked on the unit. The glass top is easy to clean.
We have to keep the keypad locked because it's too easy to accidentally turn an element on. The plus side is that any unit left on gets turned off if there's no pot on it.
Bought the optional souls vide probe and it works well, keeping the pot plus/minus 2 degrees. Not as accurate as a circulating souls vide controller but ok for many things.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I love the ease of use of my new cooktop. The digital dials are easy to read and my food has cooked to perfection. The timer is a handy feature. A great advantage is that clean up is a breeze! The appearance of the cooktop is sleek
and contemporary, and the neutral gray color is a perfect compliment to my granite countertop.

Basically useless appliance

Burners will not stay on. Even after we purchased all new Induction Cookware made for induction cooktops. We had several pots and pans that were magnetic but thought they were the problem so we spent hundreds of dollars after we were told our original cookware was the issue. To cook anything we have to stand and turn the burners back on maybe ten times. The repairman said maybe water is the issue. Really!! Imagine a kitchen with zero water and no humidity. Very typical of GE products in the last couple years. I have cell phone videos of this cooktop just shutting off while in use.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Install went easily. Cooktop functioned perfectly out of the box. Wife loves the color against the granite top. Calphalon 13 piece stainless triply set functioned with this cooktop. Controls are ergonomically nice and have instantaneous response. There is noise on high power but I do not find it objectionable.
