Great Burners - Inferior Stainless Surface

Have been using this cooktop for about 2 weeks. The burners and griddle are all great and what were hoped for. The quality of the stainless is far inferior to what was replaced after 7 hard years of use. Can't imagine the finish of this cooktop maintaining any level of beauty very long. Extremely susceptible to scratching - watch out when removing or replacing the grills after cleaning. Perhaps the Monogram would have been a better choice. I imagine in a couple years we may find out...

Love this range. It has 5 good size burners as well as griddle feature and it has a lock for safety around kids! Cooks like a charm!

Excellent Cooktop

Purchased this cook top to replace a perfectly functioning whirlpool 4 burn cooktop, but I really wanted 5 burners and wanted the continuous cook grate. That it comes with a griddle is an absolute bonus. Confess, it seems there a a lot of negative reviews and I was nervous. The good: Cook top fits perfect, looks amazing, and functions as advertised. While I really wish I had a 36" space, I am stuck with 30" but the design of this cook top allows me to put a 12" skillet or pot in the center and 2 10" and 2 8" in the corners with overhanging. If you don't mind if they are slightly not centered you can fit 4 10". I saw some reviews saying the grate was too far above the flame and therefore insufficient heating was achieved. I have no idea what unit they were reviewing but it wasn't this one. The burners work as expected with the center power burner delivering an amazing performance in bring a large pot of water to boil. It is easy to clean..
Cons: The dual center burner is fantastic for very low and hot to very hot, however at the medium setting the outer ring sometimes struggles to stay lit and is constantly going out and relighting. This is a result of insufficient gas flow going to the outer ring to keep a steady burn. Not a huge issue but something to be aware of and cook slightly warmer or lower (I usually go slightly lower as it still boils water with just the smaller inner burner)
I saw some reviews saying the lettering rubs off easy. I wash this cook top after every use with 409 or Simple Green and paper towels (some times terry cloths) the letters may wash off eventually, but they haven't yet. BTW while Simple Green gets rid of grease well and smells good, it leaves streaks on the stainless steel and requires a wipe with a water damped rag or paper towel to get rid of the film. Terry cloth & 409 works best.
Some reviews complained about the knobs melting. Not sure how they managed this as I have loaded this thing up with large pots, cook gumbos, etc. with all burners on high and have had no issues with the knobs getting hot, much less melting.
My only complaint is that the little plastic "light" that indicates when the cook top is locked broke almost immediately when I wiped over it. Apparently I either wipe really hard or it is very delicate. This does not affect the performance of the cook top, only the aesthetics
Overall, I am very happy with this purchase.
