Control Knobs Melt

We purchased our cooktop a few years ago. Given the amount we paid for it, I am very disappointed in the quality of the control knobs. They are made of plastic. One melted with a year. Another has now melted. Buyer beware.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Extremely Disappointed – Poor Quality and Unacceptable Performance
I am beyond frustrated with this GE Profile gas cooktop. I purchased it two years ago, and from day one it has been nothing but problems.
The burners nobs started burning immediately. Now, after only two years — and very light use — one of the knobs is completely not working. This is unacceptable.
I am not someone who cooks heavily every day. I am a single person household and use the cooktop occasionally. How is it possible that a “reputable” brand like GE produces a product that fails this quickly?
For the price I paid, I expected durability, reliability, and quality. Instead, I received a defective and poorly made appliance that is already breaking down. A cooktop should last many years — not fall apart after minimal use.
This experience has seriously damaged my trust in GE as a company. I am extremely disappointed and honestly angry. A brand that markets itself as premium should stand behind its products and ensure basic functionality beyond two years.
I expect GE to take responsibility for this faulty product and provide a proper solution.
