Great range top

Just purchased this range top. We had another GE Profile for about 20 years and one of the heating elements died, so wanted another GE product. Very easy install and range works great. Very sturdy control knobs and heats very fast.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Hard to clean

Extremely hard to clean splashed liquid, especially if it’s salty and starchy. The residue cooks on to the glass and turns into a rock hard film that doesn’t come off with Weiman cleaner or lemon juice. And then, after 2.5 months of ownership the cooktop blew the circuit breaker when it wasn’t even turned on! GE service said the lock switch is shorting. We’re waiting on the part and have been unable to cook normally for over 1 month. Lastly, the knob placement is annoying because they get in the way and food spasm gets under them.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I like the product very much. However, without my reading glasses it is hard to see the numbers on the dials to start the heating element. They either could have been bigger or marked with a much brighter color

Impressive product , but measure everything 2 x

I replaced a prior older GE 30" cooktop that was supposed to drop right in , but it didn't and that's OK in my case because the installer and I worked around the depth problem . The product itself is stellar and going from and old coil type to the newer electric cooktop was quite enjoyable because of the more even cooking temp. Everything tastes better . I am glad I stayed with electric and didn't go to a gas cooktop. Now about keeping it clean . If your a clean nut like me , anything with a black cooktop is going to show every spot. It's part of ownership and care.

Enjoying our Cook top

We have enjoyed the product along with the other GE Profile appliances we had installed in our home. Looking here online this modl is no longer avaiable and we unfortunately had a glass jar fall on the corner of the surface causing it to fracture. This does not appear to be covered under the one year warranty. We are trying to determine what the replacement cost of the surface would be. Since this model number is no longer available what can we do other than replace the unit completely? Its only 10 months old to us.
