Burner stopped working

The large burner will no longer turn on....as if it doesn’t recognize the pan any more. I hit the power, select setting, but no humming and it turns off after a few seconds. Of course, I’ve had it for 1 1/2 years so it is out of warranty.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Love it except the buzz

The buzz is normal. It just takes time to get used cooking on the unit. Just like going from electric to gas or visa versa. Food and water heats up faster. You have to keep an eye on it to avoid boil over.
This unit got a bad rap when new. If you buy one that has a SJ2 or SJ3 in the model number, it should work fine.
There is a foam style strip that goes around the bottom of the unit so the glass is protected. This leaves quit a gap from the cooktop surface to the countertop. I had some leftover chrome trim to fill the gaps and it looks great.

This product transcends its expectation. Suitable for a gourmet kitchen when it is "on" you felt in love of the cooking the quickness, the quietness and the performance.

Lost love for cooking - Unit switches off often

I really liked Induction cooktops mainly it is safer and cooks pretty quickly and less messy. GE Cafe was my top selection. Now after using this cooktop for just under 4 weeks and had to do circus shifting my pots and pans from one zone to other in the cooktop service, I lost love for cooking on this induction stove. I bought all brands of pots and pans and tried 20 different combinations. Yet the stove switches off at irregular time intervals. Very annoying.
If GE does not address this I had to exchange it for a electric or Gas stove.

Beware of pots and pan sizes

In December my husband and I bought new top of line induction pots and pans. Our previous induction cooktop burner adjusted to the size of the pot or pan. This one does not!!! Consider your pot and pan sizes before you purchase. I love the cooktop but I'm so disappointed I didn't realize this important point.

Frustrated wife on Valentines Day

Installed the cooktop yesterday and noticed the burners turn off by themselves in the middle of cooking. Today, Valentines Day, my wife had to babysit the stove all day to get a pot of soup cooked. From a similar review, I guess I need a serviceman to come fix it too.

Gr8 Replacement for a (Previous) Radiant Cooktop

Love it! However, (& I think this may be the problem in the not so good reviews) you must have the correct Amp circuit for this cooktop. Most Radiant cooktops use a 30 Amp--most Inductions (like this model) require a 40 Amp. I actually had my electrician change my cooktop circuit from a 30 to a 50 Amp (just to be sure). In either case, the actual wire needs to be pulled from the cooktop location to the breaker box.
Water boils in a nanosecond! The melt feature works perfect for melting cheese or chocolate. Hubs wanted me to change to a gas cooktop but that would have been much more involved to run a gas line from my meter, so we agreed on this. He loves it too! The Flagstone Gray is really good with the other stainless appliances in the Kitchen--most ceramic tops are only available in black (which shows everything) or white. GE also provided the stainless frame, as I was replacing another cooktop that was a little larger and the stainless trim piece worked perfectly to absorb the excess width and depth.
