Does not cook continuously

The cooktop was bought and installed, stops heating in a couple of minute and shuts itself off, after which I have to wait for a few seconds before it will turn on and this process repeats itself.
I completely understand that there will be some defective products, but for a cooktop that needs to be installed this is extremely inconvenient as we cannot cook at home now.
GE said an engineer will be here Tuesday let me see how it goes but the first impressions are not good on this one.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Love this induction cooktop. Instant heat only on the pots, super fast cooking, stays cool anywhere there isn't a pot and it cools down extremely quick there too. Smooth ceramic glass surface edge to edge for easy cleaning (especially like the controls being integrated in the surface). Another feature we've come to love is the auto-lock (not enabled by default - locks the controls automatically after 10 minutes of no activity. Great if you have kids and to prevent accidental activation when you're not using it). Also like having timers for each element. The controls could be a little more responsive - they are quick to activate and the temp controls respond quick, but you have to wait half-second before you can adjust the temp after activating the element. Same for the timer - bit more responsive would be nice. Also a bit more audible feedback for some button presses (mainly the lock/unlock button) could help since there's no tactile feedback to know you've actually touched the button.

Meets all my expectations

Bought the induction cooktop in November and had it installed in January. Everything worked great except the sync for the griddle appliance. Got great, prompt service. A "board" had to be replaced. While we waited for the board, the second most common flaw occurred...burners turned themselves off before I was done cooking. Again great response for GE. Both boards arrived, were installed and all is working well. I went into this purchase knowing that these two flaws were most common. Perhaps GE could simply replace the boards before shipping out the cooktop. I bought the extended warranty just in case this happens again. I will note however that the griddle that came with the appliance is useless unless you use a great deal of oil. Otherwise it burns beyond belief.

Not a good product

I purchased this in December 2016 and it has not worked a single day. I paid top dollar for what I thought was top of the line and the burners have not worked. They will cut on for five seconds and then turn off. I have had someone here 4 times and it still does not work. It has been months now without a cooktop. I need a new replacement from the factory or a different model. This induction cooktop is a lost cause. I am beginning to lose sleep because I cannot get anything done and nobody seems to care.

Sleek, safe and easy to clean

We purchased this induction cooktop to make our kitchen accessible for my husband who only has use of one arm. I'm thrilled with the safety lock for the burners. I can feel safe leaving the house knowing that he will not accidentally turn on a burner and burn himself or anything else. The smooth surface is a breeze to clean and looks very nice, blending in with our countertop. The built in timer is also very helpful. The compact design allowed us to leave the space underneath for wheelchair access. This cooktop fit our needs perfectly.

My favorite tool!

I got the cook top a few months ago, and I just love it. It replaced an old solid hotplate cook top that was slow to heat and cool, and the high setting was not very high in comparison. I love the look of the new one and more importantly it functions very well. There is precise control of the heat in a wide range, the controls are easy to use, and the sync burner option was perfect for cooking with my large oblong cast iron pot.
A few words on care... Mine still looks brand new, and I am careful with the cook top. I keep the glass streak free after each use with liberal use of glass cleaner and fresh rags. I make sure all pot bottoms are clean before placing on the cook top. I figure residue on the top or pan bottom would get cooked and crusty over time, so I minimize the chance for that to happen. I place my pots and pans on the cook top, and never slide them around on the glass. Lastly I found placing a paper towel on cook top under my cast iron pots works just fine for protecting the glass and no paper fires.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Awesome cooktop

I bought this cooktop July 1, 2018 and it was installed July 12 and I absolutely love it, it’s a different experience. Yesterday I made oatmeal and once it boiled I turned it off and it stopped boiling immediately. That is an awesome feature.
