My First Electric Shave

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I think this is fantastic. Braun have a history of producing exceptionally high standards of products, and this is no different. The multi angle razor gets incredibly close and ensures you have the smoothest shave possible. I was sceptical to begin with, but after a few shaves you get to know how to use the razor properly. It is a little more time consuming than using a hand razor but the results are where it counts most. My wife remarked that, not only did I look younger shaving this way, but my skin felt so smooth afterwards. I have sensitive skin so i would recommend wet shaving with cream/gel and applying lotion to cool your skin after, my first shave was a bit painful as i was learning how best to use the razor. Now it feels great to be able to get a professional shave at home and in minutes.

Fantastic Braun Series 5 Wet/Dry Shaver

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] No question about it, this is an awesome shaver from a trusted name! Lightweight, easy to use, and easy to clean. Full charge seems to last a long while. Grew a 5-day beard to test it out and, the trimmer feature cuts through hair like melted butter. After this, the shaver made my face feel as smooth as a babies butt! Very modern design which matches my home very well I think. I will keep this around for a long time. Takes a little longer than my current shaver due to smaller trimmer but well worth the extra 10 minutes.

Braun Series 5 Review-Nice Shaver
on August 9, 2017

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Overall, I really like the Braun Series 5 (5147) electric shaver. I've owned highly rated Braun shavers in the past and I found this shaver to certainly be comparable to those. First, I like the solid feel of the shaver. Upon turning it on, I found it to be quieter than most other shavers I've used. I didn't know if that might equate to less 'shaving power' but that turned out not to be a worry as it shaved me closely and well. I also thought I'd initially prefer to have a shaver with the self cleaning station but after using this shaver now for a couple weeks, I can say I prefer the ease of cleaning this shaver (just rinse it under running water) and I no longer have to pay for the expensive cleaning solution refills with this shaver. Speaking of water, this model is also a wet/dry shaver. While I don't generally shave in the shower (I normally shave dry), I did try out this functionality with some old gel I had lying around. I found it performed well with this method as well, so this shaver offers flexibility for those guys who prefer to shave wet or dry. Further, I did like the 'electronic' safety lock that you can use when traveling so your shaver won't accidentally turn itself on if the start button is hit. You simply hold down the power button for a few seconds to enter this mode, and the same to unlock it again. Thus far in my usage, I've hardly seen any battery usage dissipate, looking at the digital battery display. So it seems as you'll easily be able to get a lot of shaves out of this shaver between charges. Note: You can't actually use the shaver while it's plugged in, but I believe this is a safety requirement for all shavers that are classified as wet shaver capable. Finally, the shaver came came with a guard for the foil, a cleaning brush you can use and a soft travel case. Maybe one upgrade to consider might be a hard case but I don't consider that too big of an issue personally. Overall, I found this shaver to be both convenient and effective to use and I'd recommend it to my friends looking for a nice electric shaver.

Excellent Electric Shaver

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] If you don't have the time or care to get the closest shave, then this is the shaver for you. This is one of the best options behind a traditional razor.
There's none of the standard razor burn you might get elsewhere and you can shave wet or dry.

Great Shaver

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been using a electric shaver for over 44 years. I switched from the rotary style shaver to the Braun foil style shaver about 3 years ago. The Braun Series 5 5147s shaver is a great shaver at a reasonable price. It gives you a close shave as good as the most expensive Braun shaver. It comes with a blade protector and a simple pouch. The more expensive Braun shavers come with a hard case but no protective blade cover. I am able to get at least a week's worth of shaves from a single charge. It's easy to clean under running water and you can even shave in the shower. No need for any fancy cleaning system. I have found the best shave is obtained by unlocking the swivel head but I am still experimenting with it. The hum of the razor is different than the more expensive Braun version but the Series 5 shaver seems to shave just as close. Even the replacement blades needed after 18 months are more reasonably priced. Consider the Series 5 5147s over all rotary style shavers and it is more reasonably priced than the more expensive Braun versions with almost the same performance.

This Braun gives a really close shave

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It has been years since I used an electric shaver. My previous one was one of those with three round heads. It did okay, but I suffered from ingrown hairs. So I switched to razorblades. But this Braun has made me a convert. I regularly use it with a thin bit of shaving gel, which allows it to glide over my face. I couldn't be happier. Most electrics I have looked at did terrible at holding a charge, and I was suspicious of the Braun. But this thing is like that bunny, it just keeps going and going. I don't care for the mustache / sideburn trimmer, it does a good job, but is a bit on the small size. But that is a small detail. I waited a long time to write this review, as I wanted to give it a thorough test. I can honestly say, it started off as a really good electric shaver, and now two months later, and it is still a really good electric shaver.

The Braun Series 5 - I'm a Believer!
on August 18, 2017

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Shaving for me is a real pain. I've got incredibly sensitive skin, prone to irritation and when using electric shavers, prone to in-grown hairs. I'm also a shower shaver (it saves me time!), so that and my skin sensitivity, working with an electric shaver in the shower just never worked for me. That is, until the Series 5. I had originally intended on sharing my review of the product once the battery ran out. I live a life tied to chargers, so I anticipated that I'd have perhaps 2 weeks at the longest before needing to recharge. I've been using the Braun Series 5 for over a month now, and I haven't even made a dent in the three green power-left indicators.
I was really impressed with the fact that I could use my favorite sensitive-skin shaving foam and I've not had an in-grown hair to-date. The sliding trimmer performs way better on my sideburns than my razor ever could, allowing me the control to finally get a uniform trim.
I really put this shaver to the test, having grown out my facial hair to the longest I felt comfortable getting away with in public. The Braun Series 5 handled my scruff with very little trouble.
All of this, and it's really easy to keep clean. Just pop off the top, run it under the showerhead for a bit, pop the top back on, and your done.
All in all, shaver tech has come a long way since I last remember! I'm such a convert that I've finally retired my rediculous collection of stick razors, and I cannot wait to be able to take the Braun Series 5 with me when travel season picks up!
