[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have used the Braun shaver for a week now, and I am finally going to review it. I didn't want my first use of it to be posted because I actually hated it in the beginning. I have use a regular blade shaver for the last decade or so and have gotten used to the ultra smooth feeling of a good blade. The first time I tried the Braun I was more than Slightly disappointed. I used it dry and it left a lot to be desired. Found out that it was my fault, not the unit. I didn't properly clean my face and the oil just made it skip everywhere. After a few more days and different uses (dry, wet, shower, bathtub, early morning, evening, latenight before going back out) I finally got used to an electric razor again. For 99% of the time this is what I use for a quick, clean shave, with no muss no fuss. I still go for the warm foam and blade razor for when I want/need a super close shave that I want for going out. This option takes a while and can be a hassle, but for being up close, it's still the way to go. That being said, the Electric is now my everyday razor. No bumps and no scrapes. Plus it will not ever cut and make me bleed like a razor does. The side trimming functions really lends itself to trim ear and nose hair along with keeping your beard and/or mustache trimmed. Overall good product, but not perfect. But what today is
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I wanted to wait to give my review until using for at least a week since it takes your face time to adjust.
Pros: --does get a pretty close shave --can use wet or dry (although recommend you shave prior to washing face) --charge lasts a long time (have only done initial charge!) --trimmer is fantastic, does a good precision cut
Cons: --takes 3 times as long to shave as with manual razor, really have to put in effort to get neck --have to clean razor head I'd say after every other shave - gets dirty pretty quick --seem to get more ingrown hairs, which is odd, figured this would reduce, but if closer shave then maybe that's why (at least for my facial hair type)
Still going to continue using to see if improves and will update; however, for price and quality - would recommend as a supplement if not replacement shaver!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great rechargeable shaver. I was hesitant to try an electric shaver as my neck is super sensitive and I usually get rashes from these type shavers. I am very happy to say that not only did this shaver give me a close shave without pulling my hairs it also did not give me the rash. I also like I do not have to worry with batteries. I can just plug it in to charge when I am not using it. I also like that you can use this shaver on wet or dry skin. The shaver comes with a slide out trimmer that worked great for my sideburns. I also like the you can easily adjust the shaver head to get just the right angle you need. I highly recommend this electric shaver.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] For those of you that do not know Pseudofolliculitis is basically irritation of the skin due to in-grown hairs and I first had this occur to me when I joined the military and had to shave every day. This condition is very irritating and sometimes painful and for the longest there were few fool-proof options to help prevent (other than not shaving). Due to Pseudofolliculitis I decided to grow a beard which provided great relief to me but irritated my wife, so I began my hunt for an electric shaver. I had read a number of reviews on Remington and Braun but steered away due to the costs. I just recently took the plunge and procured a Braun 5 series shaver.
My first impression of the Braun 5 series was the overwhelming size of the head, was expecting it to be smaller and less obtrusive. While the head definitely cover a larger area in a single swipe you do have to finesse with you skin and razor to get the optimal coverage, in this area I wish the head was a bit smaller.
I did have to make a couple of swipes at a 90degree angle but it really did produce a smooth cut and this is where my concern began. Having Pseudofolliculitis a smooth cut typically means razor bumps and irritations a few days later. To my surprise five days later and no bumps, this alone was a huge plus for this shaver. I also want to mention this was a dry shave, have not experimented with the razor being wet.
The shaver does have a pop-out(pop-up) piece for beard and mustache trim but it is in a very awkward position blocking my view of the area I am trying to shave. Due to obstructed visibility I did not use this option to much as I was concerned I would cut my mustache or nose off so definitely will not use that part.
Cleanup of the razor is just a simple as rinsing the head under running water, which does not seem natural for my older generation but hey it works.
Overall taking in the pros and cons I do like the shaver but wish the head was smaller and pop-out beard trimmer had a better design
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have never used a foil razor and for my first shave I had been in the hospital for two weeks with my poor wife. She's fine now and I am impressed with my shave!! My hair was very long and I really didn't expect the Braun series 5 to do much. Man was I wrong!!! That neat clipper in the middle worked like a champ and in no time I had a shave that was pretty darn close to as good as a blade! It's a good looking shaver that is well-built, charges fast and lasts a long time on a charge! I look forward to many years of great shaves with this shaver!! It's a top notch first class shaver!!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Braun Shaver 5147s takes shaving to the next level. This wet/dry electric razor has skin sensitive technology that minimizes pressure and protects your skin. I have sensitive skin but did not experience any redness or irritation from shaving with this. The foil flex head is comfortable and provides a good shave. I shaved with it wet and dry to try out both options and was equally pleased with the results. If you wanted to know if this electric razor could effectively shave wet like I did then you will be happy to know that it does. Use with water, foam or gel and rinse the head clean. The handle is easy to hold and the battery charges quickly. The pop up precision trimmer did an excellent job trimming my mustache and sideburns. This shaver provides a quick comfortable shave. I used to dread shaving. I now look forward to it. I highly recommend this shaver.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It's definitely got a learning curve. I've switched from a traditional razor to this for the review. It did take a few days to adjust to this type of shave. Some of the pros to point out. Insanely great battery life. I've had the shaver for 4 weeks now and still have not charged it. Easy to grab this and pack for a trip as well. I've also noticed that shaving with this it has helped with my skin irritation. I think the only down side is learning how to use an electric shaver.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The first time I used the Braun shaver I was sold. It gave me a close shave leaving smooth skin behind. I have thick coarse hair and it had no problem with it. I love that it can be used wet or dry. The fact that it has a quick charge and last so long on a single charge is so convenient. It has been used everyday since I got it and I am in love with it.
