This only lasted 19 months before the hard drive died!

Camera system was good while it was working......we had a warranty for 12 months......and an extra 6 months if we registered with Swann......and guess when the hard drive decided to die.......19 months in. Contacted Swann but the wouldn't do anything except send us a new power cord to see if that would fix it. Really disappointed in spending the money on a system that didn't even last 2 years.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Cameras failing.

Overall we are happy with our system and the picture quality. One unfortunate problem that we are having is that the cameras are failing one by one! I have had to replace two so far and have had to purchase several more as backups! Disappointing as it isn’t a cheap system and I would have hoped the cameras would last more than 2 years!
I would recommend this to a friend!

I have my setup for 2yrs now and absolutely love it. No issues everything works great. Anyone that has issues with Swann products, it’s probably more personal issues than it Is with their products

2 Years and Solid Performance

Everything has been working very well since installation. One camera had intermittent signal loss, replacing the network cable fixed the issue. Maybe don't crush the coiled wire when packing! Footage is true 4K, NightVision is great. Software is reasonable and parsing through footage relatively straight forward.
Just bought a larger 12GB internal hard drive for the unit as we get only 16 days of recording with the 2GB (6 4k feeds & one 1080). Thats when I realized the unit only supports up to 6gb. Hopefully a firmware update can allow bigger capacities.

Happy with product

Have only had this system a couple of weeks. Followed "Read Me First" instructions and everything worked as it should. Only have two of the four cameras installed so far. I have a 1080 TV but the pictures look very good close to the house. I'm not seeing the detail I was hoping I would get at a distance. A better TV might be needed. I'm still learning how to make adjustments to the NVR menu (100 pages of online instructions to print out) The cat5 cable is an issue. Instructions say don't bend it over 90 degrees. It comes with 180 degree bends every 4 inches. See picture. Looks like it was coiled then mashed down to fit in the box. Hard to straighten out the kinks when running it to the cameras.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Brand new poor quality even technical support team couldn’t find the issue and just asked me to send them the picture of the installation.
It’s very funny when I turn the light on manually with app first issue is keep flashing and it’s not stable light second after turn on then turn off the poor quality of the video going back to normal, it’s happening randomly with all the cameras and I have to keep restart them.

Hello Amin,

Thank you for reaching out to us and sharing your feedback. We are sorry to hear about your most recent experience with our Master Series 8 Camera 8 Channel NVR Security System. Swann pioneered the category of Do-it-Yourself security and is proud of the work it has done to make local communities safer. Since this is a DIY installation, this often leaves room for error. For this reason, our support team will request as much information as possible in order to help further assist you. Once the light is activated using the application time, there may be a delay from the time you press it to when the light is activated. If the button is pressed multiple times this can create a strobe effect. The camera has 3 different settings for streaming quality; low, medium, and high. If you are having problems streaming you can lower the settings and test to see if it improves. Note that lowering the stream settings does not affect the quality of the recordings. If you have very fast upload speeds you can set your camera to high, but if your upload speed is not that good then we recommend you use medium or low for the streaming setting.

Contact our support team and provide your internet upload and download speeds for further assistance. Your feedback is important to us.

Please let us know how we may further assist you,

Thank you.

Supplied 60 foot cables are too short!

The product was remarkably easy to set up and its performance met my expectations. The greatest challenge for a DIY installation is running the cat 5 cables to the cameras. The supplied cables are 60 feet, and while this may seem like a lot, you rarely can go in a straight line. In my four camera system, only two of the cameras could be reached with a 60 foot cable. For the other two, the cables were too short (one by ca. 10’ and the other by ca 25’) requiring me buy 200’ of additional cable and make and pull 2 new cables (fortunately I could use the short cables to pull the new ones). There is nothing unusual about my installation and the 60’ cables would have been sufficient if they were pulled post-framing in new construction - in a DIY retrofit, more length will often be necessary.

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to us and providing your feedback. We are glad to know that our Swann System best fits your security needs. Every installation is unique and can sometimes require additional wiring depending on the size of your location. The longest recommend run is 300ft. You can purchase additional wiring from a local retailer, although we are working on stocking these in longer sizes directly from Swann.

Your feedback is important to us and we will send this information to our production team. We hope to soon incorporate the option for longer sized wiring as an option when ordering your kit.

Please let us know how we may further assist you,

Thank you.

Need professional help to install

A good system but unfortunately it is not plug and play to the internet as suggested. The default settings do not allow me to connect and with no computer expertise, I have no idea what changes will prove successful. I will have to pay to have it professionally connected.
Response from swann.comBy Josh V.Customer Service October 24, 2019
The system is Plug and Play with the cameras and the NVR. As for internet connectivity, you will have to go through some steps in order to view the cmaera remotely. We offer a 24/7 Technical Support line. They are able to assist you with the step by step directions on getting this issue resolved. 1800 627 2799 option 2
