I have had a Cuisinart since 1984. Although it was completely functional, this new Cuisinart advertised some additional elements that my old didn't have, so I bought it. It was quite different from my old machine, and it took some time to figure out how to use it. It has a much bigger footprint than my old machine, has many more parts that require cleaning, and the dicing tool doesn't really dice hard vegetables like carrots, which was a main reason I bought the new machine. It's far easier just to use a knife. For the "usual" functions the old Cuisinart performed, this tool is effective, but again, there are so many pieces and parts to clean that I didn't think it was worth replacing my old machine. Storage is also an issue. My old machine fit nicely into a tall cabinet; the extra blades didn't have to be stored in a separate case, so I had to rearrange my cabinets to accommodate the extra tools and I now keep the Cuisinart on my countertop because it was too tall for my cabinet. This was an expensive toy, although I'm getting used to it.

A very good food processor - bowl is designed not to leak, unlike my previous one. Storage unit for accessory blades is large, but well-designed and keeps everything in its place. The blades are sharp, unit is perfect.

LOVE this kitchen toy! I never thought I'd want one, until I saw my favorite cooking channel using it in almost every episode. This was my first year investing in a CSA membership, and making salsa, pickles, chicken fingers breading, squash saute, etc. has never been easier!
