I am highly satisfied with the laptop with only one complaint: the fans tend be loud and the computer heats up excessively when playing games like Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Fallout 4 or Dishonored 2. I have used the Nvidia GeForce Experience app to optimise these games for Whisper Mode and it reduced some of the heat issues, however it still concerns me. I would appreciate any recommendations to mitigate the heating problem. Otherwise, I enjoy the power of the machine and how it is able to seamlessly run complex programmes. The display is a joy to look at and the keyboard is comfortable to type with. The backlighting of the keyboard is great, although I wish the settings for it were more accessible and not in the BIOS. Overall, I really enjoy the laptop and it has been a dream to work with so far.

Bought a G5 15 in early December (Christmas sale) last month. Options are i7-8750H, 9MB cache, 16 GB (2x8GB) memory, 128 GB SSD, 1 TB SATA HD, GTX 1060 with 6 GB. Sure, it's not the hottest gaming setup but it's great for the casual gamer. It's whisper quiet -- I can't hear the fan when it's running. My only complaint is you have to really read the fine print on the USB-C Thunderbolt port. These G5 15's push audio & video over the Thunderbolt port just fine. However, the ports will NOT accept power into the laptop. If you plug a USB-C monitor into the Thunderbolt port, you'll get a BIOS error and nagging Windows errors saying you have plugged in power to a port that does not accept power. The solution is a $16 USB-C to DP cable adapter. No more BIOS errors as the monitor is no longer supplying power to the laptop. I'm running dual U2719D/DC monitors with the Dell dual monitor MDS19 stand -- love this setup and the stand is the bomb too!

I could not be more disappointed in Dell right now. Just crashed a drone because a Dell commercial came up through the operating system and locked everything up. Had to deal with the Dell Commercial before anything else on LapTop could be accessed. Great Job Dell...bringing systems to their knees across the world for a flipping advertisement.

So I got this laptop as a gift and had no idea of this model. I had searched for a laptop that was good for both gaming and was portable, but every device I found was either really bulcky or just not good enough. But this laptop is just the perfect fit. It fits in my bag and runs as far as I have seen, every game on max settings.

SCREEN: Has a large bezel, doesn't bother me but may be an issue for you. KEYBOARD: Chicklet keys, not the absolute best keyboard, but definitely better than the rubbery keys you usually get. And they are backlit but can only be turned on/off, no dimming functionality available. TRACKPAD: It's decent. Causes some accidental clicks but nothing too bad. Would use a mouse most of the time and use the trackpad only on the go. UPGRADEABILITY:
