Poor rack and flatware design reduces capacity.

My previous 18” GE dishwasher was easy to load and accepted all my daily dishes and flatware and mugs, etc. This one is nearly impossible to load and only accommodates half of my dailies dishes and flatware, mugs, etc. the racks are so poorly designed. I wish I could have viewed this 18” at a dealer before buying. What kind of idiot designed these racks? Wish my old 20 year old 18” GE hadn’t bit the dust. BTW, the kick plate for the bottom was poorly powder coated.

Bad functioning system
on January 31, 2024
Posted by: Lindaave
The main problem : detergent compartment was not amptied while machine was functioning for 2,5 hours. Had 7 attempts to try allwashing cycles with the new capsules of recommended detergent. Next: unfortunately No Dry option for light nor Autosense cycles. This item doesn’t deserve that high price. Not useful In the rental apartments Can send pictures showing no dissolved detergent sitting on the bottom of main wash compartment
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

No dryer function

Very disappointed that there is no dryer function. Extremely surprised that a washer wouldn't come with one. GE will not accept it back once over 48 hours from purchase. It washes fine but doesn't dry.

Thank you for posting a review on your new dishwasher. This particular model is one that uses condensate dry as the drying method. Condensate dry is an energy-efficient drying system on some dishwashers, and with this drying system design, condensation will form on cooler surfaces in a warm humid environment. At the end of a cycle, while the dish load is still hot, the stainless steel tub walls are already cooling down and pulling condensation to form on the tub walls instead of the dishes. This provides natural air drying of the dish load. The use of a rinse agent ensures spot and film protection for dishes and assists the drying process.
We recommend reviewing the helpful article on our website at the link below for more information on using a rinse agent: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=17469&_ga=2.80856023.1565370171.1710161820-1342374613.1688136512&_gl=1*gpy9or*_ga*MTM0MjM3NDYxMy4xNjg4MTM2NTEy*_ga_1JLE3BZ79Y*MTcxMDI1OTE4NC45NjAuMS4xNzEwMjYwNzU2LjAuMC4w

Big disappointment!
on May 12, 2024

We had a GE 18 - inch dishwasher for many years and were very happy with it. It finally just wore out. Because of our satisfaction with our old one we decided to get another one. Imagine our disappointment when we used it the first time and discovered wet dishes because it has no dry cycle or vent. After reading the trouble shooting tips, we discovered that we must be with it when it completes the wash cycle and open the door to vent the steam out so dishes will air dry! Not having a dry cycle would is one thing, but at least have a vent so we don't have to babysit with it or dry dishes! Would not have bought it if we had known this.

We understand that this dishwasher has not lived up to your expectations due to the lack of a venting system and fan. As we continue to make improvements to our appliances, your feedback is extremely important to us. We will pass these comments along to our product team to review.

We know any issue with your dishwasher must be concerning, and we’d like to help.
For the concern with wet dishes, you may want to make sure you open the door right after the Clean light comes on; your dishwasher uses Condensate Dry, which is an energy-efficient drying system that involves condensation forming on the walls instead of the dishes, to provide natural air drying of the load. Some dampness inside at the end of the cycle is normal, and opening the door helps ensure proper drying. Additional troubleshooting tips are available on page 17 of the manual, linked here: https://products-salsify.geappliances.com/image/upload/s--PlyoDrRN--/nser6ngcq4tbkwmtah8i.pdf .
We have an article discussing odors in the dishwasher (with tips on how to address an issue with smell) at this link: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=38932 .
If you're concerned the dishwasher isn't working as expected and think service may be needed, that department can be reached at 833-426-3393 or you can schedule an appointment online at https://www.geappliances.com/ge/service-and-support/service.htm .

Not worth the money

We have had this dishwasher for 5 years, we have probably used it less than 50 times and the other morning we woke up to rancid gray water all over our floor from the Dishwasher leaking. We had someone out to look at it and they said it is likely a failed water pump -which would probably cost more to fix it than to just replace it - Piece of junk for the price. Not to mention it is the loudest Dishwasher we have ever had - Never purchasing a GE product again -

Seems Alright So Far
on February 14, 2025

I just installed this dishwasher but first uses seem fine so far. Other reviewers are correct that there is a lot of water that remains on dishes and in the dishwasher itself after the cycle is run. Not sure how to fix that other than to keep the door open after use to let it air out.

Regret*

We swapped this unit with another small dishwasher that aged out and honestly it’s been less reliable than the one we had for 10 years - stopped working and displayed some “failed code” for some unknown reason and I had to pay someone in to reset it- and now the soap container cover closure has broken - the settings are confusing for my guests and it’s difficult to load - I don’t think you should have to “know” how to use something like a dishwasher - it should be self explanatory- I’m not giving it 2 stars cause it actually still washes dishes if you have the patience to figure it out - most of my tenants can’t.
