Does not dry

I use their recommended drying agent and yet this dishwasher doesn't dry dishes like other dishwashers. GE's response to the other reviewer misses what GE's OWN instruction manual says, which is "For proper drying, the dishwasher door must be opened immediately after the Clean light comes on." In other words, yes, you have to be ready to open the dishwasher immediately when clean cycle comes on or else your dishes won't dry.

Not user friendly

If you want the dishes to be dried, this cycle does not go on automatically, you have to set your timer so you are right next to the washer when the wash cycle is done; you have exactly 3 seconds to open the door and leave it unlocked, only then will the drying function come on. If you miss those 3 seconds, you cant just turn on the drying cycle, it would be too easy: you have to start the wash cycle all over again, even if you don’t need it.

The dishwasher is designed to run from start to finish without your needing to open it to engage a dry cycle. This model does feature the Condensate Dry system, which means condensation is drawn to the tub walls instead of the dishes. This provides natural air drying of the dish load. The use of a rinse agent ensures spot and film protection for dishes and assists the drying process. If using a rinse agent does not help or if the unit is stopping mid-cycle, we recommend speaking to service at 1-800-GECARES.

Pretty on the outside and that's about it. No drying cycle. Have to open the door to let out steam and air dry the dishes.

Response from geappliances.comBy Mike@GEAGE AppliancesSeptember 27, 2021
Hello there,

Thanks so much for reviewing your dishwasher. We can understand your complaint about the drying method. This dishwasher uses condensate dry. Condensate Dry is an energy-efficient drying system on some dishwashers.

With this drying system design, condensation will form on cooler surfaces in a warm humid environment. At the end of a cycle, while the dish load is still hot, the stainless steel tub walls are already cooling down and pulling condensation to form on the tub walls instead of the dishes. This provides natural air drying of the dish load. The use of a rinse agent ensures spot and film protection for dishes and assists the drying process.

Thanks for being part of the GE family. Mike@GEA

Nice small dishwasher.

Super quiet and cleans well. The only complaint is how the racks are organized makes it hard to have plates inside. I still haven’t figured out how to load them without having them touch each other.

Glad I didn't pay for it

I can see why hotels, such as Marriott, use the compact models, but they are seriously lacking. The soap dispenser door doesn't open, it hits the rack, preventing the soap from dispensing. Also there is no air dry feature, so it takes forever for them to dry. I believe this is the reason the housekeeping staff doesn't use the unit when they come in to clean, they do them by hand. If I were head of equipment procurement for the hotel chain, I'd be contacting you about replacing ALL the units with something better because this model has serious design flaws.

Nice exterior. Interior baskets VERY poorly designed. Loading glassware & dishes just doesn't work. Really, is this the best GE engineers could do?? The answer should be to redesign the baskets and send them gratis to all who purchased the unit. Shame on you.

There is not a heated dry setting on this dishwasher. you must open the door as soon as it's Clean cycle is completed to dry the dishes. Poor option for the amount of money I spent.

Cleans better than we do by hand
on July 2, 2023

Our kitchen is too small to fit a conventional style dishwasher but it fits this one. We were happy to find that this dishwasher cleans dishes better than we can by hand and makes so little noise that we barely know it is on. Now having two sinks full of dishes doesn’t bring the dread of doing dishes for two hours.
