Not worth the money

I had to buy this new GE Profile model dishwasher only because the one I had for 22 years had a rotten front door gasket that needed replacing. After contacting and searching online for a replacement gasket, I was told that it is no longer manufactured. GE could not verify that the replacement gasket for their newer models would fit the older model. Once the dishwasher was hooked up, I discovered that the inside was MUCH smaller than the previous model; someone thought it was a good idea to hide the heating element in the sides therefore, I've lost about 40 square inches of space to place dirty dishes. That's a lot of missing space when the dishwasher is 18" wide (the perfect size for my tiny house). Then, after trying out all three cycles, I discovered there is no "heated dry" cycle, and my dishes were still wet once the cycle finished and said "clean" Let me just say, they don't make them like they used to and I'm greatly disappointed in the quality of GE Profile appliances. I'm not looking forward to something breaking on my GE Profile refrigerator that I've had for 22 years, I certainly will not replace it with another GE product. Also, the screw holes for the kick plate would not line up with the holes for the screws on the dishwasher frame, and my old model had four adjustable legs made from metal, the newer model has plastic legs that are not very stable. I used wood blocks to help stabilize the new model.

The dishwasher itself is a good unit. Very quiet and cleans excellent. However, lets talk about the wasted space. The top rack has 2 pieces of plastic that I guess you put utensils in. It takes way from the space for glasses. Thankfully someone had the common sense to make them removable. Now the bottom rack. The layout is workable, but the way it was manufactured there is very little support for anything other than plates and a couple bowls. There's no way to keep but a few glasses from falling over. Also plates over 10.5" won't fit. Glasses and cups are washed more frequently than plates once the top is full you're pretty much out of luck to wash any more glasses or cups in this dishwasher. And the cover on the silverware rack is a good "concept" again... good thing it's removable. Think twice, I wish I had.

I just got this unit installed, giving it a run. It's amazingly quiet! It's an energy saver for sure with our solar water heater. The installation manual was well laid out and the installation went smoothly. Simple to use, and looks great. I haven't tried the Wi-Fi features yet, that's next. Very pleased!
I would recommend this to a friend!
