Picture quality is exceptional, casting online content does however require the use of an external device(smartphone or tablet rather than the built-in applications of Vizio's older smart tv's. Still, the Vizio "Smartcast" application is easy to setup and use. My only complaint is that Amazon's Prime Video doesn't seem to be included as one of Vizio's Smartcast's subapplications(applications accessible via the Smartcast application itself). However even with that said, I would definitely buy this television again.
The picture quality is fantastic and it plays videos games with basically no input lag (that's noticeable anyway). 4k and HDR are beautiful as to be expected, but the sound isn't much better than a computer monitor and each time your TV loses internet connection, it makes you go through the initial setup again...also a bit disappointed that it was advertised with a tablet remote and only came with a very basic remote.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Thank you for your feedback. To better serve users who prefer a more traditional app experience, SmartCast TV is now starting to roll out to our SmartCast Home Theater Displays. SmartCast TV makes apps accessible directly from the display as well as adding multimedia functionality to the USB port. This update will download automatically to your display if it’s connected to the internet and let you know with an onscreen message when it’s downloaded. Once the update has been downloaded simply press the ‘Input’ button on your VIZIO remote control, and choose the input labeled ‘SmartCast’.
Bought this as a replacement for a first generation UHD monitor. The image brightness and clarity are definitely better. However, under certain rare conditions of low contrast simple images (sky or sand or ocean), I can see an artifact that may due to the adaptive backlighting - it exhibits itself as a very subtle circle and vertical line, like the Greek letter Phi, over about 1/4 of the screen.
I upgraded to this beautiful TV a couple months ago. My previous Vizio was a 42 in. with only 720 p. I had it four years and still works great. I gave it to a friend that needed a TV. This 50" M Series is magnificent . I am a little slow in the technology area, but I am catching on to the smartcast. My next Vizio adventure will be a smartcard soubdbar. I can't wait.
I have had the tv for over a month. Good features and excellent picture. You must have a wireless internet connect to get the tv up and running. At least 4 updates to activate all features. Delivery was painless.
The TV is great. I have 5 Vizio TVs and love them all. Now, for the "but..." First the SmartCast with Chromecast is very, very poor. The older Vizio TVs that I have that have Vizio Widgets work much, much better. The SmartCast system is slow, difficult to set up and I try to avoid using it at all cost. In fact, I purchased a new Roku Ultra to gain access to OTT content. I am quite surprised that Vizio would even go with SmartCast...it is a stupidly slow and poorly conceived system. Second, I am quite certain that the HDMI ports are mislabeled. This has been the case with other Vizios that I've owned also, but not all. I get much better performance from the ports that are labeled for lower rez content than I do for the other ports.
