We upgraded from a 12 year old 1080p TV, and are immensely pleased with the picture quality and features. The TV was easy to mount, setup, and works better than we expected. We only had to watch one episode of Planet Earth, and everyone in the house is hooked. My only issue is that now everyone wants to watch their shows on it, so we are back to fighting about TV access.
Major issue is with 4K settings. I started watching few shows on Netflix 4k and noticed that there is flickering colored lights popping up spontaneously.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

With true 4K source at 60 Hz the picture is great. After going to several sources with HDR10 source material, the M55-E0 was still in 4K "Normal" for the majority of the videos. Verified with the site owners that the source videos were indeed HDR10 so not sure what the problem is. I see on the website "Coming Summer 2017 - The new VIZIO SmartCast TV℠ launches apps directly from the big screen" meaning the M55-E0 will soon have it's own apps instead of having a 2nd device or casting. Still waiting, but summer is not over. If the HDR10 issues are resolved and the built-in apps are enabled, I'll consider changing my rating. Can't recommend it yet. One review question was "Did you read any reviews first". There were none when I purchased this TV so I took my chances.

Great for future content, decent at best for cable

When I first hooked up the TV, I was underwhelmed to tell the truth because the cable quality on this TV was not too great. I have messed around with the settings on the TV to make some improvements, but it was not enough. The picture was definitely more than watchable, but for a brand new 4K TV the upscaling was disappointing. My cable provider uses 1080i and 720p or lower resolution on all channels.
Also, the TV's functionality was horrible. It kept resetting my picture settings and it was a pain staying connected to the internet. Due to poor internet connectivity, the pair connection between the TV and the mobile device kept getting disconnected. However, most of that was due to how far the TV was from the router so the TV is shouldn't be blamed much for that. Although all other devices in the same area have good - great signals. This TV is the only device with this issue. When the functionality works, it works great.
Outside from those negatives, 1080p is good, and 4K is awesome. I love the fact it supports HDR10 and Dolby Vison. The device is great for gaming, and the picture options are plentiful. I have read articles about the brightness of the TV is its weakness, but the brightness is great to me. My room contains two windows in close proximity to the TV. The viewing angles are not so great, but good enough for just me and my wife. I love the colors, and the Chromecast is the best when it works. I wish Amazon Video was supported in this TV though. I'd probably would not buy another Vizio TV, but it is one of the best 4K TVs to start off with a budget and when your TV watching habits are in line with the pros of this TV.
For the price, the TV is awesome. The support from Vizio update looks to be good as well.
I bought a Vizio M series 55" tv directly from Vizio company. Great sale. Got the television in 4 days. Was packaged super well, so no damage. I love the television- the picture quality is superb and the SmartCast is extremely easy and fun. My only complaint is the sound. I had to buy a sound bar. The television sounds like a tin box.
Picture is fine, price point was what I was expecting, but this TV does not like staying connected to the network, and when it is consistently lags at streaming, whether it is higher resolution YouTube videos, or just casting downloaded movies from my PC to the TV. I wouldn't recommend without 3rd party external casting

Great upgrade over my previous 4k TV

I have had this TV for about a month now and it has been a pretty good experience. I jumped on the 4k bandwagon early and had a previous 4k tv but no HDR, dolby vision, or FALD. The first thing i noticed on my new vizio was that the FALD produced deep blacks and contrast that is simply stunning. It really gives the picture depth. The WCG of this display also provides nice rich colors i never knew i was missing out on. Perhaps the biggest upside to this set is not only HDR but also Dolby vision support. HDR content looks absolutely stunning: A nice bright vivid picture with amazingly colors and detail, it simply blows SDR content away. UHD blurays and netflix dolby vision content look absolutely STUNNING! When you combine all these together HDR, FALD, and WCG you get a picture on the M series that rivals sets hundreds, if not thousands more $$$.
I can't turn it off....every time I do it just turns back on by itself....am I doing something wrong?...please help
