Amazing.

The different stages come off very nice and easy when you want them too, but if you aren't intentionally pulling them apart, chances are they won't come off.
ITS STURDY.

I'm loving the spaceflight theme and I think, this is an amazing set. It's the perfect memento about the flight of the Apollo 11.

Massively Blown Away by this Massive Model Kit
on February 21, 2019

Quality, quality, quality. Big... And Quality.
It's a good thing I didn't bother clearing a place to display this before I constructed it; the place I had in mind turns out to be too small. Even just the first stage by itself is best described as "huge".
This massive 1969 part kit is so well engineered, that it can be held with one hand. The designers have utilized some crafty and ingenious ways to get the most out of standard bricks (only about 1% are "custom bricks" and I think that's mostly due to the parts that are printed; that's right, there are no stickers, only printed parts where a little extra detail is called for) while at the same time producing a model kit with an amazing sense of realism and remarkable attention to details.
I took, perhaps, about 7-8 hours to do this build (solo). I was purposely taking my time and enjoying the experience; one bag of bricks at a time was emptied into a large container with a lid (in-case I needed to put it away, like that was going to happen). I think tear-down might take just about as long, if I should decide to re-bag it someday... as I said, some of the engineering in this design is elegant and at times bordering on complex.
A part of me wants to tear it down to see what else I could turn the parts into, but I don't think I'll be able to do it -- this Lego is just too much fun as-is! (Maybe someday I can get a duplicate set for that endeavor).
The research and graphic art of the box and booklet are wonderful. I love how they seamlessly integrate historical media with Lego diagrams and photos.
Kudos, Lego. You have made a masterpiece! (And great thanks to the two young designers that submitted the original idea, of course!)

Awesome set!

This set is definitely challenging even to the experienced Lego assembler. Precise adherence to the instructions is necessary if the parts are to clip together properly. It was a 3 day off-and-on project and was thoroughly enjoyable the whole way through! Fit/finish is good, the middle vent parts would be the only notable piece I’d say could be improved upon. Mine are not perfectly flush with the chassis of the rocket.

Fantastic!

This goes into one of my top 10 Lego sets over 30 years of Lego building.
1. There are no stickers. Awesome.
2. It is also extremely detailed when the side panels are removed, but also very structurally stable.
3. The microfigs and two side components are great.
I didn't use the blue blocks to display it sideways. It's a rocket! Utilize the height for an impressive display.

An excellent educational build

So this was my son's gift he just turned 9 and he built this in about 5-6 hours. He has been non stop talking about the stages and how it comes apart. He is pretty good at building legos I will give him that much he needed some help but not much just needed help looking for the part more than anything. I feel like now he needs something more challenging than this, we might have to move to architecture legos. After that I don't know where that will take us.

I was challenged wih this set. The build went well with the exception of the stage II rocket. I had a great difficulty with his one. I think I rebuilt it at least 4 times before I finally got it right.
Satisfaction now that it's complete & on display.
