A Great Set

Not overly complex to build - the Lego-engineering is amazing. It looks so impressive once complete.
What is even more cool is that the interior is designed to reflect the actual interios of the first and second stages. I would like to open the side to show off the interior, but I also don't want to wreck the looks of the finished model.

Amazing Set
on June 12, 2018

Let me start off with saying this: If all of Lego's sets were this good in terms of building strategies and design - I would buy many more lego sets than I already do (don't get me wrong - I already spend a lot of money on Lego every year).
This was an amazing build. The inside structure set up was amazing and a lot more sturdy than it appears. The printed pieces added a nice touch to the set (instead of using stickers) and the micro figs - simply awesome.
All together, the stages of the rocket are extremely accurate and Lego and the fan designers could not have done a better job.
BUT, let me say one thing - to all of those who have and are giving this set a one star review - TAKE YOUR TIME. This set is NOT fragile, It just requires finesse to put together. Also, it is not meant for kids AT ALL - it is a display piece by all means. There is a reason it says 14+ on the box.
This is arguably one of the top 5 lego sets ever released (next too both UCS Millennium Falcons).

Excellent Model

Loved putting this together. Just a few areas where it was challenging to attach pieces. Love that it comes apart in different sections.

My first large build; greater than a few hundred pieces at least. So much fun.

Great set, a challenging but very unique build. Not much playability but a great build regardless.

Space Fan Approves

I'm something of a space travel enthusiast, and I decided to get myself this set for my birthday. This was very shortly after it came out, so I've had time to think about my purchase and whether it was worth it. Spoiler alert - it was worth it!
The attention to detail on this set is astounding. The corrugation of the first and second stages, the external (Hydrogen?) pipeline, and the paint scheme are all spot on. The CSM and lander even fit inside the fairings! There are no stickers - all of the lettering and other decorations are painted into the pieces. All 3 stages plus the CSM and the Lander can be removed without damaging the set... much. Parts occasionally come off when staging, but it's easy to fix.
The only thing I would have done differently is have the stand attach to the Satarn V such that the stages could be displayed either separately or attached as a unit, but that would raise the part count past 1969. That's not a big issue though, since I can make a more secure and modular stand on my own time. Or perhaps I'll recreate Launch Complex 39A.
When fully assembled and connected, the rocket is surprisingly solid. All the same, be careful when you place it on the stand - everything from the S4B up likes to sag a bit.
There are some potentially "illegal" building techniques involved in making this set, but it works. There are a few steps that are easy to miss and can mess you up later down the line, so be sure to verify each step before moving on to the next.
All things considered, I love this set and I hope LEGO release more like it. I'd love to see a Falcon 9, Falcon Heavy, BFR, Soyuz, or SLS set in the future. I need more exhibits in my Lego Rocket Garden ;)

Fantastic set

The build of this set was very fun, it's always my favorite part and the Saturn V was no exception. You complete the build in stages, which come apart. Once completed, this thing is TALL. It comes with stands for horizontal display but I don't have many locations in my house where this would fit so it's vertical now. Price to piece ratio is very good as well. Definitely recommend, A+
