At A Loss For Words

I have been building Lego's for many years. First with my sons and now with my 8 year old grandson who has been building since he was four.
My grandson and I have built many challenging sets and found this one to be especially hard!
Several pieces in the mid section did not seem to fit, and we disassembled and reassembled the bottom and middle section three times and the pieces in the one small area still does not fit right!
Upon completion the three sections do not want to stay together and most definite can not be picked up one handed as one builder on here said he could do!
The stands were flimsy to say the least and my grandson was not only disappointed with the build but was thourly disappointed in the min figs

This had to be a disappointing experience for you and your grandson to share and I am sorry that this has happened.

It sounds like the solution is going to be rebuilding the set though. As other people have mentioned, you can pick this set up with one hand and it is durable. If you rebuild this and it is still having issues please contact LEGO Consumer Services. We will be able to get pictures/video of your set to see if we can determine where the error might be.

Good luck and I hope you and your grandson are able to turn this concern around.

Poor infrastructure, pieces fall off during build
on May 13, 2018

This was the most dissatisfying Lego purchase and build I have ever made. The only thing the package has going for it is the numbered bags which can be completed without the need for emptying out all the contents of all the bagged pieces. The infrastructure at the core of the rocket is flimsy, held together by small pieces that inadequately support the joints. Pieces go flying off. Large pieces (ie the outside skin) that need to be joined to the main structure end up being bowed and then will not stay on when trying to attach them to the main body. I have been at this for 24 full hours and despite using SUPER GLUE to try to get pieces to stay joined, pieces continue to fall off, especially those in the first section NOT worth the cost, NOT worth the time, and DEFINITELY, NOT worth the aggravation! I doubt I will ever get this done. I hope to just have the satisfaction of dashing it against the wall and throw it away!

Hi there! I'm sorry to hear that your rocket had some difficulties at launch. The Saturn V is one of our more challenging builds, and if even one pieces is a little off, it can cause problems down the line. From what you've described, it does sound like something's out of place in the infrastructure to the first stage of the rocket. You should have much better results if you disassemble that section and rebuild, making sure that each piece is in the exact position pictured.

If you need a hand troubleshooting your build, you can get in touch with our LEGO® experts. We'd be happy to help out! You can reach us at LEGO.com/Service.

Horrible

Do not stand the completed thing up. Repeat do not stand the thing up. It fell down by itself into around 500 pieces, many of them hard to reach meaning I was forced to start again.

We're really sorry to hear your LEGO® NASA Apollo Saturn V fell over! We provide a great stand in the set that you can use to store your set on if you don't have an even surface to store it on. We hope this helps!

Awful

This is THE WORST kit I have ever built. In fact, I could't get past the first stage of the rocket because there were several pieces missing. I had to replace one of the supports with John Lennon's spyglass from the Yellow Submarine kit. Long story short, the sides would NOT stay on. It kept falling apart. I finally gave up on it and literally threw it in the trash after it fell apart numerous times. Awful experience. A complete and utter waste of money. I honestly would not recommend this piece of junk.

Not their best

I have built several expert level sets and I have to agree with many of the bad reviews - the directions to this set are really unclear in places. I had to remake a few sections several times because of it and couldn't wait to be finished with it. I didn't enjoy the building of it at all. There are several places that I feel could have been more solidly engineered. Its a lovely piece when done and definitely one of the cheaper expert sets to build. However, even though its holding together, I don't trust it enough to allow anyone to touch it, much less play with it.. It just sits on my shelf and collects dust.

Very boring & repetitive set
on March 13, 2019

I am a huge lego fan and frequent buyer of big sets, old sets and anything that looks remotely great as a display piece.
There are maybe a handful number of sections that were unique, everything else is so repetitive that i was bored out of my mind and disappointed. I mean imagine doing something 4x times and then another item 4x, oh wait let's make it 8x times after all. Then take into account that it is mostly one color, it becomes even less fun.
The finished design is impressively big, but the build experience is the worst. And I did all the big bens and london bridges :)

Perfect!

The overall build experience was great and the attention to detail is amazing. Makes great display piece, but the model requiers some space on the bookshelf.
Pro's
+ the model is HUGE
+ construction is sturdy
+ details
+ price
Cons
- the model is HUGE
- launchpad would have been great
All and all would have liked an launchpad but you can't have everything (maybe another LEGO ideas set for a launchpad ;) I would deffinetly buy it).
I would highly recommended this set for everyone who's a fan of Apollo program or space programs generally. But be sure you have enough room to display this model because it's approx 1 meter long.
I would recommend this to a friend!
