Since hearing about this project way back I was all ears for progress reports, every update I heard about got me more excited for when it was finally released, I wasn't disappointed when I finally got my hands on it.
Everything about the set was designed with thought and a desire to get it right, the instruction book with story behind the Saturn Rockets programme is superb.
Once I started building I wasn't going to stop until i'd finished and managed in 4 hours, every stage of the build was impressive, it just kept growing. The final product is amazingly brilliant.
What I don't understand is how a set that is as good a value as this is was also able to have printed bricks and not a single sticker????
I included a picture so you can compare the size of it with other large Lego models, it really is BIGGGGG !!!

There are numerous reasons to recommend this set. It is a fun and challenging build. It is large. It is priced very well for something of its stature. It just happens to recall one of the key moments in the history of mankind. If that is not enough to convince someone that this is the best set of the year (if not all time), it is temporarily out of stock just a mere few days after its release. Yes, it is that popular and is very well received.
As a build, there are many creative techniques used to make the model very stable, even enough to trust your kids to hold it! The details are fantastic, and all parts are printed. Building it is like that book you just cannot put down as you are reading it. You want to keep going until you have something taller than 3 feet in front of you. There are many steps where I thought to myself "I would never had thought of this". It is quite a learning experience. Speaking of education, the value in this set is enormous. You can see the rocket as a whole, or view it in stages. The instruction manual has some nice information about the use of this rocket in the moon missions. You also get a lunar lander, the command module, and little microfigure astronauts. There is even a piece to represent the flag that was planted on the moon. You can rearrange the sections to display in stages, or even trace its journey from the launch pad to the moon and then back to Earth for the splashdown.
I can definitely recommend this as THE set to get. Make some room for it, and then watch it come together. Do not pass this one by, as it is definitely on the radar for fans of Lego as well as the space program.

Very addictive build - as it takes shape, you just want to keep going, adding another panel, getting a little higher. I had to build it all in one go. Refreshing change to have bags labelled 1 to 12 (with a few tiny bags inside) as opposed to 5 bag 1s and 3 bag 2s which seems the way with the modulars nowadays. Finished product is massive and could be considered a UCS set by it's piece count and size. Not as repetitive as I anticipated (though obviously a little repetitive in places) Some clever colour coding and SNOT techniques make this set interesting enough too. A 'must have' for displaying, not sure I'd let the kids play with it, definitely a collector's set. The tiny (to scale) figs are soooooo cute too. Nice!

Awesome Experience & Amazing Set

At 30 years old, this was my first major Lego build. Sure, I grew up with a pile of random Legos that I built houses and such with, and possibly even constructed a small set a time or two. But nothing like this.
When I saw this pop-up in an online article a couple of months back I knew I had to have it. So like many, I patiently waited for release, with excitement brewing every day.
This model exceeded my expectations, it is absolutely phenomenal. The detail is insane, and it just feels solid.
I thoroughly enjoying putting together every piece, all 1969 of them. Which, I must add, is extremely cool to have been a part of the design. That just speaks to the care and detail that went into this product.
When I finally completed it and gazed upon it's fully constructed and majestic posture, towering in at over 3ft, I felt like a little kid again. The excitement just poured over me and I just stood there admiring it.
I love space, and the JSC is right down the road. I grew up going there and recently went back to see the new Shuttle display. So this piece certainly reaches me on a deep level. It is proudly displayed in my living room now.
Thank you Lego and the fans that created it.

I've built a few sets during my 42 years on earth... Quite a few actually. This set, without a doubt, skyrocketed to number 1 of my most favourite sets of all time. It is truly an excellent build with very enjoyable techniques to discover throughout. I absolutly love this set and recommend it highly. My thanks go to the amazing designers and to LEGO for giving us a beautiful set at a very acceptable price!

As my girlfriend insisted on buying this set... (nope she did not) Anyway I quickly took this cool box full of almost 2000 pieces home, it was among the last ones in store.
So yes, it did not disappoint me at all, all the building methods used, the special pieces, and of course, the size! Wow!
I can only recommend, it was a great Friday evening activity!

Reach for the Stars!

As a huge fan of Lego and anything space related, as soon as I heard this set even existed, I had to show my support. When it was announced, I squealed like a boy during X-Mas morning. I waited until 12 AM for the set to come out, like others I was worried I would not get the set. I went to sleep at 1:30 AM with my order. I got it today and built it and I could only say... it is AMAZING!
The set is built very nicely with some interesting techniques, NO STICKERS, stage separation like the real Saturn V :) and even the landing scene and the splashdown of the command module. The vehicle is very tall, and eclipses others sets I've owned like the UCS Slave 1, TIE Fighter, and my former personal favorites, the UCS Red Five X-Wing and the Space Shuttle Expedition! The build is interesting, but it's not as attention grabbing as the UCS TIE Fighter or as complex as the Slave 1, but solid and very sturdy! This is not a play set, but a model that stands as a tribute to all of those who helped man venture past Earth and reach for the stars.
P.S. It looks great displayed completely assembled on the small stands :) favorite pose
