Everything I wanted & more!

I'm a space fan so I had to have this set. I would have bought it now matter what however I was pleasantly surprised but how good it actually is! First thing is the manual. I love how it's made to look like a space race era manual with history articles & an interview with the lego design team.... Complete with 60s style photos haha
All through the build I thoroughly enjoyed it. The finished article (taking a non stop 5 hours) was huge! Not only that, it was realistic & I love the tiny astronauts!
What I was surprised to find out was that it could be split apart & reassembled for various stages. The splashdown part could be attached to the lunar lander which in turn attaches to a small rocket to show the final stage before the landing on the moon.
I will treasure this set forever! And I look forward to seeing more historical space sets

You're Never Too Old.

I never had Legos as a child. I knew they existed but it wasn't a toy my parents bought me nor did I ever ask for them. A couple of months ago I read about this set and I knew I had to get it. I can't explain how much I've enjoyed putting it together. The sets were finally delivered yesterday and I started working on it at 5pm. It's a beautiful set with "Ikea" style instructions so you can't get it wrong. It's not super easy, this is my first set but if I could do it anyone can but there is a level of patience required if one doesn't have any experience. It's not just putting blocks together. The level of genius of the designer incredible. Get a set and you'll see what I mean. Also slowly putting such a large set together is a great sensation. Btw...I stopped working on it at 1 am! I finished 2 stages of the rocket. I almost don't want to finish because I've enjoyed the process so much. If course I highly recommend this set to anyone regardless of age.

Fantastic NASA Apollo Saturn V Set

This was the first Lego set I have ever owned/assembled. Although I am familiar with using Legos, I never had a set or used instructions to build something with Legos. I am used to, very rarely, using Legos to build very small structures for random school projects in the past or structures for some other toys/games. I am a huge fan of NASA, so I could not pass up on purchasing this set. This set has clear instructions. The total assembly of the set is stunning. I love how nicely the different stages of the rocket come apart. This set was a tad challenging, but for a beginner, it was not too bad to put together. I would highly recommend this set to anyone who loves a good challenge and NASA. I love the background information that was given about the actual rocket. I think it is amazing that there are 1,969 pieces because that matches the year, 1969, we went to the moon! I cannot wait to put this on display. I really like the stands that allow the rocket to be displayed horizontally. I love everything about this set. I believe any rocket lover would enjoy this set!

Amazingly Fun Build!

21309 Saturn V is the rocket that took Apollo 11 to the moon in 1969. My favorite build I've done so far. The build was challenging and extremely well designed. It's outrageously fun to watch everything start to take shape . The set can be repetitive without being tedious however. Comprised of 1,969 pieces (also a reference to the year of the moon landing), The Saturn V rocket is made up of three sections that separate to show its operation in flight. The set also features a small lander scene (with an extra astronaut), as well as the water capsule the astronauts returned in! The rocket stands just under 3.5 feet tall and was an amazingly fun build clocking in just under 7 hours of total build time. Pictures included below including one with a bottle of water for scale.

Truly Epic!

This thing is a beast! Since I saw it I knew I had to have it for display. Being a space nut I knew this would be perfect for my collection of space “things.” Having seen this in real life at the kennedy Space Center allows me to appreciate how important something like this is to civilization! I haven’t touched Lego in about 30 years but there was something oddly satisfying about putting this huge beast together. The satisfying perfection of alignment and the calming system of order, was somehow unexpected and bought back a few old memories.
So we have one step left... THE LAUNCH PAD! This needs to be approved asap.

Spectacular Set!!

I remember the moon landing in 1969 and when Lego decided to come out with this set I just knew I had to have it. Clever using 1969 pieces as a homage to the Apollo 11 mission. The details of this model are fantastic. The build is so much fun, but not too difficult as long as you put the right panels in the correct places. I've only completed bags 1 - 5 of the first stage of the rocket and am totally amazed with this product. The Instructions are one of the best ever. Kudos to a truly amazing model!!!!!

I spent all of Saturday building this set. It was absolutely worth the fight my wife had with me after 'wasting' the day.
10/10 would build again.

Huge step for Lego

When I first read that this set was coming out and after I had seen the pictures of this fantastic ideas set I knew I had to have it! Luckily we had already planned to go to Legoland the week it was released and I was fortunate enough to get one.
First of all the box art is stunning! As a huge fan of anything to do with space, NASA etc. I really loved the detail and effort which had gone into the box and I think it really stands out on the shelf!
As for the build I wanted to make sure I took my time to really take it all in and enjoy the building process of this incredible model, so I spread it out over the course of 3 days, probably about 7-8 hours of building time. The build is split into different sections and you basically build up and up and up! What surprised me was just how much goes into building the interior which you don't get to see, so the build is pretty intricate but enjoyable and very interesting at the same time. Each section is very solid, so you don't need to worry too much when holding or moving it, but obviously as you keep adding each section on you do need to be more careful because this is such a tall model, another thing to mention is there are NO stickers in this set, everything is printed which I love because you get such unique and cool printed pieces which any Lego fan would love.
Even though I had seen the information on how big this set was, it wasn't until it was complete when it really blew my mind as to how MASSIVE this is, I also own the tower of orthanc and was kind of expecting it to be roughly the same size...nope this is even taller than that! Luckily you get to build 3 little supports for the model which allows you to display it and keep it steady.
Finally you get 2 smaller builds to go with it, the first one which is my favourite part of this whole set is s build of the actual moon landing where you get a tiny US flag and 4 astronaut micro (nano) figs which are the same as the ones you get in the Helicarrier, This little build even looks good as it's own tiny display model. The second build represents the landing back on earth with the inflatable in the water which is also a nice touch.
One last thing I'd like to mention is how cool the instruction manual is, it's designed like a NASA blueprint and it comes with info about the original fan designer, the Lego design team and the actual mission itself and gives you the different stages of the mission which the Saturn V took, again the manual itself is something which Lego fans would really love to have as it's so cool.
I would give this set a huge 5/5 and would recommend this to every Lego fan as it's absolutely amazing, easily one of my favourite Lego sets ever!
